Effort, time, money.

We need effort, time and money for learning whatever we want. When I began to play poker I invested a lot of time and effort, so trying to save some money, I didn't study with a coaching, so I spend much more money playing. Today I recommend to beginners investing 100% in effort, a much as possible in time and divide their investing in money like 80% studying and 20% playing. Based on that aspects, how do you manage your learning of poker?

I wasted like $3,500 playing live $1/2 and never learned to play NLH correctly. I watched some Phil Galfond videos that showed his thoughts during hands and I thought about poker and I learned to play poker. You are suppose to learn for 5 months before entering NLH and enter at the micro stakes since money poker is still money poker.

Wow, 80% for studying is much. Did you mix it up maybe? I just wonder. I am not sure, if I understood you right.
I guess, for me it is, if at all only 20% time for studying. I am usually using mostly free resources for learning. Well, if you do some coaching, then it can become really expensive I guess. But it also probably pays out after some time, when the coaching was good.

I do not have the money to invest in coach but I invest a lot of the time in reading books and watching videos and practicing with freeroll. I do not know for sure the percentage but I think it's 50% each.

Poker is like athletics, you dont see football teams play football every day, no they practice, they drill, they watch tape, etc - they practice 5 days just to play a game on 1 day.

I don't think there's much need for a new player to invest any significant amount of money at all. There are plenty of free resources to learn poker and they can test their skills in freerolls. The time and effort should come first, money once they've got the fundamentals figured out.

I would say about 40 per cent studying, reading books, watching poker and 60 per cent playing. It is important to play a lot to get real experience, there's a feel you just can't get from watching or reading, you need to do it. But, yes I agree, you don't need to spend money to get that experience. Play free rolls and then the micros once you have some winnings. If you lose go back to the study and the freerolls. Make yourself earn it

As it must remain enjoyable, study is limited to 5%.
With proper BRM this just means learning is slower, so longer at freeroll/micro levels.
So just enjoy playing freerolls, even with no winnings

Nice sharing! I am talking about not trusting in false hopes. There are a lot of things about poker that are not on youtube. If nobody tell us how to, we can't simply rediscover years of study and experience of other people. It can be worse, no one will not tell us about it for free. Let's move up, friend! :icon_boun

I said "recommend for beginners", but even pro's spend at least 30% of their poker time studying the game and we are just poor mortal people. Let's win while everybody sleeps. :top:

You pay tuition at the tables and at a certain point you will graduate if you are any good. I have played garbage, played premium hands and everything in between....the trick is to choose which hand to play those cards because they are all winners. Studying general principles is fine but studying specific players is "finer."

I'm studying 50% and playing 50% of my time.I think very important to study poker.

I cannot believe its been over 15 years for me.
However, I still learn to this day.
For me it was experience, then seeking knowledge, motivated by a desire to learn.


In any combination of learning/playing: asking questions and seeking answers is key (even answering your own questions is helpful through the thinking and visualization process)

You and me have to compensate with time (long) and effort.

I am talking about hungry people for victory like I was. We will spend time without money, but our effort can make us jumping to the top.:elefant:

I have never done coaching, that being said I am losing money on online poker. I do very well at the live tables both tournaments and ring games, but online I am flooded with disappointing results. I think I am very good at reading opponents, but the table movement and inability to read without software makes online a losing proposition for me so far.

Nice! Thats the road to the high stakes, I got there like this... it's a lie! I was just dreaming with open eyes.

It's a 50/50 thing for me even though I get more time to study than I get to play. I typically only play cash games when I am feeling 100% so I get lots of time to review hands and practice my math.

I suppose you are more and more motivated to learn much more. When I get an insight and I can apply it correctly in my game turning that study in profits, I am very happy.

Thanks, for explanation. I wasn't sure, if you meant the percentages about time or money to invest for study.

Effort and much time. did not spent much money yet.

doing great courses and seeking to improve constantly

30% - poker, 30% - training, 30% - girls...))) 10% - sleep...))
