Oh, what a good question! I know one thing - money is always small (more income, more costs).

Hello friends, today returning from my job. It occurred to me to ask them this question. I know that in the forum there are many people who are already professionals in poker. But others, like me, work daily in other areas.

I thought of this, because in the week I will not be able to play the club freerolls because I have a lot of work. I'm only going to play on the weekends, and some sng at night maybe.

How much money in your poker account would you stop working to dedicate yourself to this beautiful sport?

Thanks for reading and taking the time to respond. I see them on the tables.

:deal:
For 99% of players and workers we all have or had the dream. Win enough to quit working and just enjoy life by doing what we want to do. That is why lotteries are so popular.

Grinding for a living is not playing for fun. It can be slow, tedious and boring. Long bouts of controlling the losses to take advantage of the few hot streaks. Same for everyone. Even the pro's.

Me? I worked for a living until May of this year and retired. I do not need a bankroll. I can now take my time and enjoy everything. Poker is just one of them.

Keep working until you feel confident your skill can provide a regular income. Different for everyone.

I would want all of my bills paid for a year and at least 3 bankrolls for my expected level of play. Say you want to play single table SnG for $1000. That would be $300,000 for the 3 bankrolls of $100,000 each plus 1 year of bills paid on top of that. Your lifestyle dictates how much is needed to cover 1 year of bills.

This is very much a personal decision and could be very different for each person.

God bless.

I see that christiancjs is banned and has not posted here since end of June.
Makes me wonder what he did to receive the ban.

As for me, as long as I can make enough money playing poker to last until I die, I will be fine. So far, this Friday is looking like about the right time.

I quit my job 10 years ago to become a poker pro. I had about 10k USD at the time, playing NL100 online.

I would probably need the equivalent of three years salary to quit my job. This would give me enough of a cushion to be comfortable and concentrate on playing poker without financial stress.

When you make enough money to support yourself ( so pay bills etc etc ) only with the poker , that’s when I will stop my regular job to become a “ regular professional player “.

This depends also on what are your expenses every months , depends where you live , your life style , etc etc

There is general rule that I don’t really agree with it because like I said depends on your monthly expenses , but the PRO said that you have to have at least 6 months ahead of monthly expenses in your bank account so that if you loose you are covered , without being an homeless , and plus the bankroll to play poker .

I personally would never have poker as my only source of income, i would invest in real state, buy land, sports betting etc.

i believe 20k for one year will cover your needs... to grind 0.5-1$ ...2-4 tables or 1 heads up with rake race and points to convert them ... you will need 20k for that bankroll... those are some safe facts.
If you beat this stake you can play poker for a living ..good luck

Hello mate, I found your question very interesting and reflecting to have a good answer. Did you know that 90% of poker players lose money with the sport? 6% can reach ITM and maintain the sport without investing, only 4% of poker players are real champions and so they are always the same players that we see at the final table of a tournament. Today I have my own business, I own a specialized business in the sale of beverages, I work a lot, I spend a lot of time waking up dedicating myself to business, I feel tired. I study poker and practice a lot, I am passionate about the sport, I dream of acquiring enough skill to earn an extra income every month, but this will be a consequence of my current effort. I know there is a secret not revealed by the champions, I hope to achieve that treasure that is this ability.

There are not enough money to stop working! if you stop working you will die from boredom. We need to working all life long, making your own business is working, learning how to play poker is working, household chores - work, to make a nice garden near the house - work. Who we are without work? And what will we teach the future generation? how to be lazy assholes and spend daddy's money!

But how much would you need to win 'online' before you could believe it's 'not rigged'? (you know what I'm sayin'?)

For me it wouldn't take any amount of money for me to quit working at other sources of income & dedicate myself solely to poker. Reasons.. a) I suck at poker (or at least I'm not that good) b) I want to keep poker 'fun' and for me that means keeping it as a recreational hobby

You’ve got 17,000 posts on this site and you still suck at poker???!!!!!
What the hell have you been doing on this site???? [emoji38][emoji23]🤣[emoji23][emoji323][emoji322]
(Post less-study more???) Lol

Just teasing, you obviously love poker, and are playing on your own terms. Good on ya
