In the latest season of HSP, the new episode next week will have an increased minimum buy-in of $500,000. They announced that there will be $5,000,000 on the table. This is going to be the most awesome televised poker game on the face of the planet.

God I can't wait.

I think it's Monday at 6:00PM PST

but im not sure. check your local listings!

Will the blinds be bigger?

They did not go into detail but I assume so....I assume the blinds will be bigger, the antes larger, and consequently the straddles bigger....

I'm not so sure about the blinds going up. Either Esfandiari or Antonius was talking about major deepstack NL.

awwww i would rather see larger blinds....

i guess the blinds will stay the same now....maybe the straddles will get larger since it is NLHE which means a straddle can be any bet because it is just an unforced blind bet.

Wow implied odds...

Probably not as much as you would initially think really. World class players are not going to stack off very often, it would have to be a cooler type situation like the Hansen/Negreanu hand.

Not happening in the 8 o clock episode, not sure about 9. I never really watch new episodes so I'm not sure what time they usually start.

that game was sick especially the 72 hand. the blinds are 300/600/1200 with 100 ante so no change there and no one appeared to put the straddle on. the advert for next week showed jamie gold and patrick antonious go all in hope patrick wins that one

how about that first hand when guy had top boat and benyamine would've had quads... not as much action as I'd hoped for. They're actually all playing fairly nitty with the exception of the 72 hand. Except for Sammy obv.

Ho man we would've seen some blood during that hand, would've been pretty sweet. I bet Benyamine was kicking himself.

I'd be resulst oriented too if I missed out on winning about $700,000 or so.

Apart from hitting all the boards (almost) that he played, Guy didn't strike me as a total fish like Bob Safai or Bob Stupac. Guess that's what dropping millions and millions in the online poker community does to you, you eventually learn from your mistakes.

Also, why were AJ and Gabe ranting about Barry's shirt when Guy's outfit looked like something 14 years old hip-op wannabees would be ashamed to wear.

Yeah, but Guy called in some spots with no pair no draw hoping to pair up. Not great poker there.

How about Doyle laying down the flush to Jamie? Looked like Doyle thought Jamie wanted a call, which he did, but he shouldn't have wanted one.

This is stupid, as all it does is shorten the stacks sizes by half, so everyone isn't as deep...

deepstack poker = skill poker, and you would think that the "pros" would want to keep it that way, instead of showing off what big "gamblers" they all are.

Hmm, I'd say that I've seen many of the top live pros do much worse than this on HSP, see Eli, Sammy and very often Daniel: at least he had 2 overs and not just one. Calling in such a spot (with only overs) also mixes up your play and makes you harder to read, Jennifer Harman has done it against Phil Hellmuth on season 3 (?) with also great results (turning a pair and rivering a flush with such garbage as 92s if memory serves). The deep stack nature of the game also makes this play better because opponents with top pair now are giving away good implied odds.

Doyle laying down the flush is fine after betting the turn. His involvement in the pot was pretty small and the spot was more than marginal, since he knows Jamie will play Q7s or the like hoping to hit. If it was the normal 100k, I can see Doyle calling and stack off with the 3rd nuts, but in such a deep game, I'd wager that we won't see a lot of the good pros with a lot of cash experience stack off with the 3rd nuts to turn agression. The only thign to be said is that I can see Jamie playing two pairs or a set this way against Doyle, but really, Doyle has position on Guy and Gold, better opportunities will arise.

Standard raise seemed to be around 4k wich is still pretty small in comparison to stack sizes. In the normal buy-in game, people raised to 4k too but with much shorter stacks. And the straddle isn't necessarily bad for them as it gives them the opportunity to play suited connectors and the like more because of the bloated pot from the get go.
