Specifically Russian and German - are they all really bad, fish, donks or a combination of the 3?? lol

I don't mean to offend anyone by this but it happens on just about every table I'm on at Full Tilt - I'm playing .05/.10 NL - there's usually 2-3 Russians/Germans/ Eastern Europeans and they always play long shot hands, any type of flush draw - no matter the bet amount and they chase gut shots to the river every time.

Don't get me wrong, I've made plenty of $$ off of these players but I let them get to me when they catch runner runner flushes, and runner runner straights after all the money's in. It's happened to me 8 times over the past 24 hours and I'm about to lose it. I almost threw my laptop across the room the last time, lol. I mean, I'll push with a set and they call with a gutshot and hit on the river - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr.

And it doesn't happen to me - they do it to everyone. Eventually (if they don't hit and run, which happens about 90% of the time) they lose it all - but usually to someone else who ends up hitting and running....lol.

Anyone know how to handle these players and even more so, prevent one's self from going mad monkey tilting???

lol

Didn't know that germans are eastern europeans , they tried to go east but failed - but that's 70 years ago.

I don't know about all the russians or all the germans but probably the combination fits well for me.:deal: (I'm a bad fishy donk - come and play in my tourneys )

There are several threads about opponents on that level - two of the newer ones here:

How can I get used to .....

crazy all in monkeys

On a serious note: Maniacs and gamblers can be found everywhere depending on time and day of the week.

You're right, sorry about that - Germans are not Eastern European - see what mad monkey tilting does to one's mind!? lol

I understand that maniacs and lags are at every level but that's not really what I'm talking about - I mean, I think these players, the vast majority of times, when they make these calls and bets, they actually think they are ahead or have a really good chance of hitting their draws. Maniacs and good LAGS make those calls and bets for a reason - and they know they are behind but they may do it bluff, gain info, etc. The ones I'm talking about really don't know any better - not that I've seen, anyway. And I know they're bad players b/c not one of them has a better win rate than -10 to -20 bb loss per 100 hands.

I read somewhere that European players are better at post flop play, while US players are more focused on preflop play.

Every player has his own game. You can't judge someone from their country.

I'm just going by experience and the vast majority of them seem to be from Russia even more so than germany - Poland, Czech, Bosnia,Hungary, etc.

And I'm actually talking about post flop play - absolutely brain dead, 90% underdog calls (yes, I'm not talking about being aggressive and bluffing, betting, etc THEY CALL BIG BETS WITH 3rd pair, gutshots and K highs!) that I've seen made at least 40 different times in the last 2 days - and not just to me.

Mmmmm I can't tell you why they keep calling their draws w/o odds and bottom pairs with 2 overs on the flop aso

- I just take notes and take them out asap.

- Maybe the poker boom has just reached them and they're feeling lucky.

Maybe...I apologize if I have been out of line , I've just never had a run like this against players like this over the past 2 days and there's about 5 - 6 other regs at .05/.10 Nl at Full Tilt that are going through the same thing.

And I'me sure you're right, there are probably more American donks than anywhere else - I've just happen to run into a lot of Russians over the past couple of days - the American donks seem to hang out more on the late night weekends...lol.

At the stakes your playing at -EV plays happen all the time. Those guys will chase flush draws to the river. If you're making the right statistical plays, then you're just getting the negative end of variance. Just hang in there and you'll get the upside soon.

No harm done Kasanova - my gf went through a similar experience (as posted) the last days - and you're quite right about the times.

My approach is different though - I want to play against this type of opponent !!!

Luck evens out eventually - use PT or HEM and you'll see - just don't adopt bad habits by watching them.

You are right, I just got back about 50% of my losses over the past few days - calming down helped.

I also went back through some hand histories and I need to apologize to the Germans that play poker - only 1 out of about 20 so called "maniacs" was German. More than half were Russian though - lol.

No offense, but at 10nl, 100% of the players are really bad fishy donks, wherever they come from.

lol...thanks....I wouldn't say 100% - but maybe 80% isn't too far fetched...lol

All Donks?

How can all Russian players be donks when the majority of final tables these days always include a Russian player, you have players like Ivan Demidov who was a runner up in the wsop main event and Alehkin who was runner up in the WSOPE main event, and many more.

Can you say " all in " ... all the time. They must have manditory bingo donkfest poker classes in those areas. South American countries too. It might just be my imagination, but it seems a large majority of bingo players come from those countries.

I would assume the amount of players a country has that play poker, then that country would be considered where "bad" players come from. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of bad American players out there too.

Either its a coincidence or he's right about the Russians, because most of the bads beats I've gotten over the last month have been overwhelmingly from them.

It makes sense to think that they are just experiencing a poker boom, as I have encountered many Ivan Drago sized fish.

this all -in thing is a new strategy in low buy-in poker.
it has been termed as chip mining. they spend a little bit on
looking like a donk so you will play more aggrressivly.
then double up or triple up. then move off to another table.
don't mistake some of them as bad players.
don't know the answer on playing them but i would say folding anytime they go all-in.

Also be aware that Romanian and Russian players, in particular, engage in 'Team Play,' meaning collusion is more common among them, as can be seen in their forums, which promote collusion as a strategy. There are threads on that here at CC.

First off I don't want to offend anyone but I also find on no matter which site that the ppl from the old USSR are very aggressive/fishy/donk players, NOT ALL of THEM but the majority of the ones I play with do play that way. Playing at Carbon you get to see which countries ppl are from so I always look for them at a table I want to join. IMO they just want to be loved by all.

Sorry if I offended anyone from the old USSR but this is the way I've been seeing it but on the other hand your women are very beautiful.
