What's up with the racism. All eastern european players like russians are donks and fishes? And since when are Germans considered Eastern European? Please learn your geography first before spitting out false stereotypes. There are psychotic donkeys everywhere. Come to California casinos and you'll see MANY Vietnamese-Americans and Chinese-American players playing all sorts of rags and chasing runner-runner flushes/straights. Do I consider Chinese and Vietnamese people fish/donkeys/etc? NO. Poker is an individual game. Poker is NOT a team game.

Unlike sports, poker is an individual game.

If you're going to make stereotypes, then I would like to know what you think of Americans as well as Koreans and Japanese poker players.

Actually yes, most people posting in this thread are being racist. If this thread was about African American players instead of Eastern Europeans, it would spark major outrage. Yet there is strictly no difference between stigmatizing one group or the other.

Interesting discussion, particularly regarding the possibility that the entire thread is based upon a racist perspective.

Let's pretend that a player has accumulated stats on a bunch of players and notices that 80% of the time a player from some specific country goes all-in they have the nuts, and only 5% of the time is it a stone cold bluff.

Now assume that you're in a hand with someone who happens to be from that same country, but for which you have no stats at all. If that player were to go all in against you on a hand in which you'd flopped a set but three diamonds appeared on the board, would you be a racist for considering the statistically significant tendencies of his countrymen in making your decision to call or fold?

But that wasn't the case here. OP said

Specifically Russian and German - are they all really bad, fish, donks or a combination of the 3?? lol

Personally, I make stereotypes in my mind and stay away from South Korean players when they're in a pot. Statistically, many South Korean players that I have played online are multi-tabling deepstackers and they rarely play any pots because they're rakeback players who mostly play very tight and seek sets. I have never seen them bluff because based on their betting patterns and strategies, which ends on the turn and their showdown winning rate is over 80%. When they get in a pot and bet aggressively, I tend to let go of my hand assuming that he might've flopped a set or better and it's not good to get involved with a player who can clear you and has been playing very tight. On the other hand, I play small-ball and steal their blinds frequently while playing small-ball since I like to take down many small pots from them. But I don't use my statistical stereotypes to judge the whole race and go far by saying "Russians are donkeys" "Koreans are nits"

When there is a French player making all sorts of raises from random positions, I reflect back to previous games where I have played French players before who have similar style of playing and then adjust a strategy to it. But I do not go far as "French players are loose-aggressive weirdos" although it would be a compliment to say all French players have poker quality of Elky.

I was hoping this thread would die, I posted it after being on the receiving end of many bad beats from mostly Russian players and I was beyond tilting, so I needed to vent. I also went on to say (and apologized) about calling Germans Eastern European, which I know they are not.

As I have recently moved up in stakes, I have found that there actually are some pretty decent "nitty" Russian players out there as well. It is also unfair that I reffered to them as "donks" and "fish" instead of maniacs, Lags, or loose/passives.

If you notice, the "lol" after calling them that was like an angry/jokingly stab at them for getting under my skin. Nonetheless, I apologize to anyone that may have been offended by the subject of this thread and it was not meant to be racist in any way but I see how it may be interpreted to be so.
