The hand of AK has only six outs to make a hand if the flop does not present any possibility of a straight, or any possibility of having two pairs appear on the board once the river is drawn.
What most uniformed new players never seem to understand is any pair will always beat any single A no matter how strong the kicker is with the A, if they do not connect.
Please review a chart of all the possible
hands in poker, starting with the lowest winning hand of a Single A with the largest kicker will only win the pot if no one else at the table has any pair once all the cards are dealt, and any pair includes 2,2
But also take note that an AK is not that far behind a pair of 2's as far as chances to win goes, but a pair of 2's are still ahead.
