Does anyone have an old poker room that has closed down that they miss? For me, it was bugsysclub. That was an old out of the way poker room that not many people had heard of or played, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. They had good beatable freerolls and cheap buyin tourneys. I even won my first real money tournament on there; a 1 cent tourney where I won $40.

Paradise Poker! It was my first site to play at and I loved it.

Completely agree. Loved Bugsy's. Superb software, deep stack tournaments which was rare at the time. Questionable RNG but a great playing crowd and a decent social atmosphere.

Cash games were soft as hell.

I have a few I used to like, some UK focused. The Rivercard was a small iPoker room that ran a nightly freeroll that attracted 20 - 30 players and I regularly cashed in those.

There was a small Microgaming skin that ran an exclusive freeroll every night very late and min cash was $5 which was very easy to get because it would pay the top 20 players and it usually only got about 30, you could just tank your way to the money, forget the site name but it didn't last long.

Ultimate Bet I used to like the software but the player pools were huge and there was a cheating scandal that finished them off.

PKR for the obvious reason of their unique software.

And lastly a new startup called High Pulse with it's own software, stayed in beta testing for a couple of years running freerolls with the promise that when launched the winnings from beta could be withdrawn. They kept delaying the launch and players started deserting. As soon as they launched the requirement to withdraw was that you had to make a minimum deposit. I did it straight away then withdrew a few hundred bucks of freeroll winnings. A few days later they went bust and loads of people missed out.

I can't remember the name of poker room, which had 3D interface. It was not VR, just looked like 3D on 2D screen.
I kind of liked that App.

Absolute Poker was my love back in 2004.

I also really enjoyed PokerRoom.com

But yeah, AP was great during the poker boom.

Luckily, I wasn't a nose bleed player on AP.

There were a few 3D type poker rooms. PKR the obvious one. The others I remember one was a Prima skin which didn't last long, forget the brand. Ladbrokes at the time used Microgaming software but wasn't part of the network, but they also had a 3D client using the prima 3D software. Again it didn't last long.

A more basic 3D site was called something like 3D poker or The 3D poker. They used to run a few freerolls but they were one site that closed and I never got the money I had won from them. I think they had playthrough requirements on winnings as well.

I remember one called 'Cake Poker' which was the site you played on to get on those multi-hour TV programmes where they would watch and commentate on people playing micro cash games. Christ, poker really was huge!

I remember playing quite a lot of freerolls on Cake Poker then discovered the ridiculous play through requirements to be able to access winnings. And I seem to remember they had an inactivity charge something like $5 a month. In the end I just took my small freeroll winnings to a cash table and donked the lot off.

I used to watch a show called Poker Night Live here in UK where they did those games and provided commentary and analysis late at night. It was great for insomniacs like me, and I think I made it on screen one night when they ran a featured freeroll, Still remember some presenters. Kara Scott, Michelle (Night Nurse) Orpe, Mark (Prince Charles) Banin. Good memories.

Cake was where I played in 2009. I was lucky to get my funds off the site. :p

I remember them well my friend. Got on screen a few times playing as low as 10NL. Kara has gone on to great things which is good.

There was also The Poker Channel which had a short life but was great again for insomniacs like ourselves. Every man and his dog was playing. The only thing I didn't like was failed actors and comedians getting into the game and then all of a sudden being treated as experts and pundits on various shows.

Sky Sports' Poker Million was fantastic, if we can forget the Jimmy White farce.

Absolute Poker I seem to remember they were implicated in the Ultimate Bet cheating scandal, both rooms coming under the same umbrella at that point.

I had some money in UB right near the end not long after Black Friday. I remember initially they had no withdrawal options available only UKash vouchers. I managed to get my money out just before they got shut down. In that regard I've been quite lucky getting my money out of sites not long before they disappeared. The closest call was PKR where I thought I had lost it all until pokerstars stepped in with their offer.

Virgin Poker, I won entry to a live tournament at DTD Nottingham. My one and only live game. I worked out I haven't got a poker face.

I loved their big stack games (10k and up starting stack) and their micro tourneys rarely covered the gtd, and the game was easy to beat. Back then I didn't know enough about RNG to make a judgement about it.

I started out at PokerRoom.com,,, in 2004 or somewhere there about. Just wondering, is Carbon still open? I stop playing there because how long it took to get a check. And then they went to the only way to withdraw was Bitoin. That was it for me. I played at several sites that shut down. UB, Absolute, Doyles Room, Pitbull, Cake, Lock (Debi helped me get my $3200 off Lock before it folded) Reefer, FeltStars and I'm sure there are others. I think my favorite site was FullTilt.

I know they are not extinct..but as a US player, I miss playing on party poker and pokerstars. Party poker swag was fairly easy to get for a microlimit player and I don't recall many issues with either site. This was around 2004ish.
