My style of play is tight/aggressive. Of course, the majority of players claim to be tight/aggressive. While I claim to play tighter than most, but not so tight as to be nitty, I find that a whole lot of these supposed tight/aggressive players will play a much wider range of starting hands than me, but their raising range is much tighter than mine. My range is such that I am comfortable raising with any hand in my range.
Of course, a hand that I would raise with is not always the same hand that I would call a raise with. I might be willing to put a 3x raise in with a certain starting hand, but fold that exact same hand to a 3x raise from the person one seat ahead of me. This is one of the things that always puzzles me about the way a lot of people play. They seem to have it twisted. They are hesitant to raise with certain hands, yet are willing to call raises with much less. For example, a lot of players would be reluctant to raise with Q-J, but would not hesitate to call a 3, 4, or even 5x raise with Q-8. Go figure.
I always say you play the way that works for you. If it works for you, that's all that matters. I'm not questioning how people play, only what they call it. The way I play works for me.
