This is a discussion on What do you think about playing satellites? within the online poker forums, in the Tournament Poker section; I was looking for a MTT to play but I hadn't one adapting to my bankroll right now, do you think is good to play
I always play satellites on PokerStars. I think it is a good opportunity, for a small amount of money, to go through selection for more interesting and perspective tournaments. In other words, I recommend playing satellites.
I think satellites are good too. But you need to find the comfortable and with good ROI ones. Personaaly, I don't like satellites where more than 6 people but you gotta try it out all of them and decide which one suits you. GL!
Yes the vast majority of the satellites are turbo/hyper speed , but there are also some with regular speed blind levels. The above depends on the site
I believe that regular tournaments from stars is not better slots that talking about satellite...
There is no self-confidence ,there is a program and it solves..
You can play plus, you need patience in online poker ..and the rest skills such as mathematics here to anything
I think this applies to all gambling
It's good to enter expensive tournaments, but you have to have control because you end up spending a lot and not getting entry. I play a lot of sats but I always try not to spend more than three buyins.
I often play satellites tournaments. Thanks to satellites, over the past 2-3 months, I won about $ 250. I think satellites are a good opportunity to increase the bankroll. Usually I prefer 888. This site has a good selection of satellites "Big Fish".
It's definitely a good option to play satellites, I've been playing satellites for a long time and I was very good, I was pleased. Remember, it does not matter to be the first in that tournament but only to enter the number of people who are leading a certain tournament depending on the satellite game. So if you are a chip leader and the first 40 goes on (gets the input) and the rest is 41 players in the game and you come to AA, there is no need to play with those cards, but you can easily fold that arm and wait for one to fall and simply get a card for tournament.
Satellite entries are a great way to play into a tournament that you may be under bankrolled for or to get in at a big discount. I just read one of the final table plays in the poker millions on party poker won his entry through a satellite. He turned $5 into over 1 million dollars. Thatís a great ROI and shows how great a satellite win can be.
I was looking for a MTT to play but I hadn't one adapting to my bankroll right now, do you think is good to play satellites?
If an 11$ tournament require 1.100$ bankroll, then it still require 1.100$ bankroll, if you try to qualify via a 1$ satellite. Maybe you can reduce it slightly, because as a winning player you should have a positive ROI in the satellite, but its not like, you are suddenly bankrolled for the 11$ tournament with 100$, just because you can buy in for 1$ via a satellite.
This is because the bankroll requirement for tournaments is determined by, how often you are going to cash or win them, and when you have to first cash in a satellite, that is obviously going to be way less frequently. So satellites are not a way to get around having a proper bankroll for the target tournament. And if on the other hand you do have the bankroll, then why bother with the satellite?
For this reason satellites are mostly an illusion. They are there to lure people into playing tournaments, they would not otherwise play, and essentially take shots. Which can be ok, if its something truly special like the WSOP main event, which I am sure, everyone know, Cris Moneymaker won after qualifying via a satellite.
But if its an 11$ online MTT, its kind of silly in my opinion. If you want to play such a tournament, then just pay the entrance fee. You dont need a bankroll, unless you are going to play it over and over again, and if you are a recreational player, you are probably not.
I used to play the 1ct sattelites on 888 poker but i stopped doing that mainly because they ve almost become somesort of flip, cause people tend to go all in all the time, every hand so there is no skill factor involved anymore just luck and for a game of pure luck ill rather play slots in the casino.
Hello, Gaviria8! I think, it's normal and good idea to play the satellites, that to hit in the tournaments... I'm yourself so do.
Because, first of all, this method give an opportunity save money your bankroll, and in the same time to train before
the tournaments, and possibly, better and more to know about your future opponents!.. Therefore, GoodLuck!
Like almost every on this thread said before, I like satellites to, theyíve give me a chance to play tournaments with higher buy in, which my bankroll doesnít allows. If I can enter in some tournament for a half of price or less, itís good to me.
first of all, satellites are made for players who cannot afford expensive entrances and this is a great opportunity for such poor players. but satellites are not mine, there is a long way to go in order to win something significant, so I prefer small tournaments, it does not require much patience)
Online, I don't like them at all and especially hate step satellites. If it's one and done for a ticket to a decent tourney I will take a shot sometimes. Other than that, I think they are a waste of time better spent grinding a bankroll.
love playing satellites. I think what does it for me is the allure of turning something small into something huge. Recently on ACR I was using my step 4 tickets to enter $55 guarantees for $3-8K. Ended up mincashing and starting a bankroll that way. Extremely helpful.
At what point should you just bite the bullet and pay the entry $300.
Perhaps if the buy in is greater, the satellites are of more value, $1000 ticket, and 1 in 10. Get a seat at $100. 1 in 10
If you canít win in the satellites, how could you expect to finish well in the Tourny?
I like sats. Just played one last night. Top two won an entry and number three got the booby prize - a large amount of cash. I was hoping for number three and got it! I was very happy to lose and would be happy to lose more in the future.
With satellites you are forced to play more hours , and the taste when you are 2-3 spots from qualifying for a high buy in ticket and you lose , especially due to a bad beat , really sucks . But on the other hand with sats you get the chance to play for games that your bankroll doesn't allow , or if you are not good you can play the game you desire without investing a lot of money . Also you get some practice while playing the sats and if you win you play a tournament as well , hehe . But it happens , when you win the sat and you are transfered to a mtt table , you might have very few blinds to begin with .
They give me chances at tournaments that I would probably not otherwise play but the drawback is your are often getting thrusted into the main event as a late reg. I often do better when I start from the beginning rather than the middle, so its a trade off.
I like the ones with at least a 10-1 return. 20-1 is even better.
I like Satelliting for Poker Stars Sunday Million because most of the time you are awarded a ticket and not forced to play the same day.
