I need some help. I am frustrated!

Yesterday, I was playing a $3 buyin tourney on BOL. It was add on - Rebuy unlimited and players were playing LOOSE as hell. I tried to play tight and solid. Tried raising 5x with AKs on two limpers, they both shoved. I called. Showed 44 and 76o. Sure enough 76o villain hit a 7 and won the pot.
I rebuyed and played tight but not aggressive preflop. Like I had KQo on HJ. Limped behind and bet when I hit the K on flop. It was OK. Not my style of play but oh well.

It was getting towards the end of rebuy period so people went banana. I was folding almost any hands. Till I was dealt Pocket Rockets.
I was UTG so I thought if I go all in, they will all call behind me and I go broke. I opened 4x. One called, one min raised, another one (the same 76o Whale) called and action was back on me with 25 BB. I shoved, they both called with min raiser showing AKo and THE Whale showing 96s.
I guess you know what happened then. He hit a runner runner straight.

Now, my question is that WHAT THE HELL I CAN DO differently?

I think you did what you could. Sometimes the gods of poker are not on your side. Try to adjust as long as it is not a wrong play. Limp your suited aces, connectors, small pocket pair and then go CRAZY when you hit. They will pay off.

There is not a whole lot you can do. These things happened and just go to prove how much luck does play into other people's wreckless style. You can either continue to play TAG or loosen up to play more passive and try to shoot for straights and flushes. It's hard to play poker when all people do is shove in pre-flop. A lot of people are just shoving for the fact they can re-buy and get those chips back. I've even seen this in live games at the casino. I saw a player buy-in three times at least during the re-entry period. That many buy-ins he'll have to hit 1st or 2nd place money to profit but he was still in it when I got knocked out. Long term playing says you'll even out if you keep to premium hands so just keep at it. At least you'll learn to lose.

I saw these types of players, mostly in low stakes tourneys (R+A). One thing I learned is that they wanted to see the flop very cheap which means do not try to build the pot preflop. However, you can play your good hands post flop very aggressively.

The point is that "why do the pushing when donkey will do the pulling?"

Thanks fr the input. This at least make me calm. I was a rough day in all. Went to a final table playing for a $200 first player prize. Two limped, I shoved AQo and one of them called after thinking for a long time. They showed A8o and hi an 8. was busted for like $7-8.

I also think each new game you must do all youe best but sometimes luck is not our ""friend'' ......

So,what about the times you lose value by not raising pre-flop? Say you have AK, AA, KK, what do you do?

I am 100% with you but I am trying to adjust my game play to make my losses minimum. Any input in this regard is so appreciated

Well the thing about those small buyin tournys, you find alot of fish or recreational players who might not take the game as serious as you do and also $3 buyin might not affect some peoples bank rolls like some others. What i do i try to isolate players when im on a strong hand and i look to go super aggressive. I rather avoid going into a tournament life decision against 3+ players as the equity of the your hand gets reduce. However you still have to try and make +ev decision and shoving with AK after they raise considering its a rebuy and add-on tournament was a good call and you were just unfortunate that time. However calls like that will benefit you in the long run so dont despair. Keep making your +ev decision and practice good BRM and it will payoff.

You played it well mate, think about it this way. In the long run those opponents will only make you money. They might suck out on you every now and then but that's part of the game.

And btw regarding the first hand, you're only a 41% favourite to win the hand (against about 30% for each of them). Even tho it seems like a big loss but 3 out of 5 times you WILL lose that. So yeah just take it like a man and move on to the next tourney ^^

Just don't let it get to you and you'll win some in the long run, gl mate

If I don't have my HUD running, I just keep notes on what hands each loose player has at showdown. When the time comes, you'll know if their shove is just asking to be called.

Study and try other styles of game and there will be a happiness.

Sounds like they played the style they wanted too and you played what was left over. They were playing preflop and you played right into them. You have to understand table dynamics and what a person can try to do to maneuver them Dynamics to what is better for you with them styles at the table. Maybe post flop playing would be best in your example because you know the guy with 76 , and 96s would call as he had done this before. so 1 pair against a guy like this isnt always the best thing to put all your chips in preflop against. He is not going away so cut off the betting and see the flop then make him make the decision post flop.
Preflop he makes the call and sees all 5 community cards to win. give him the flop and if it is too far to reach he is more then likely to fold you the pot. In basic terms your giving him a reason not to continue on the flop. the other guy is playing in your range and you would beat him more times then not preflop or post flop with them aces because he is playing just like you for 1 pair and then rush to get it all in .

try to see what the other players at the table are playing for and what they will put all their chips in for .

Theres a lot to this but you starting out trying to get the right spot to push and keep others out of the hands at the right times comes threw trial and error . good luck at the tables .

Just keep playing solid and eventually things will swing your way.

Low stakes is pure madness, with rebuy its basically bingo, but have in mind that if you make the best decision on mid/long term you will be lucrative. Font mind the bingo players, they're like wallets, you just have to find the situation to 0them
