The OP asked about the chances of winning a single tournament, so this can not be answered by looking at number of tournaments.

Some have suggested that the changes can be even less than 1 in a 1000. If we look at only one tournament then our chances can not be less than 1/1000, even though I understand that it can certainly feel that way.

Poker mtt with 1000 playets is something like lottery.

if You play just for fun, or start learning You got a one lottery chance 1 to 1000, if You a good, solid rego with a good winning rate then You got five lottery tickets and Your chance is a little bitt bigger 5 to 1000.
