Those of you newer poker players and I figure a few that have played awhile with so-so results, might want to practice a bit more Patience and Discipline when playing a non-turbo tournament. I am the first to admit, it's a slow process and a tedious assignment to play in one correctly, and tougher to watch one (start to finish, no editing, hearing the comments about your opponents betting, style, and more - when you are not in the hand), but that's how you develop skills that will allow you to crush at higher levels. Here is one from yesterday (a $15 + $1.50 entry 9 plyr event), see if you would play some of the hands I decided to play, the same way. Remember the 4 goals: Play your best, capitalizing on others mistakes while allowing them to bust out; Get yourself into position to make the money - must make it to the bubble to enter the money spots; Make the money and then make sure you get paid one of the top two spots paying 50 and 30 percent, not the 20% you get in third place that covers entry and little ROI for you investment of time; lastly, once you secure top 2, get more aggressive and relentlessly pressure them into defending their hands when they shouldn't. Realize you have 2nd place locked up, you have nothing to lose by going hard for the win.
