For example 50 people are paid and there are 55 people left. Is it best to just fold almost everything and don't take any risks (like all-in with good cards) or should you just play like always and bet/raise with good cards etc

You should definitely try to take adventage over the players who think that getting itm is the goal of playing poker. If you are average or big stack try to steal blinds as much as you can, you should think of that as a starting base of getting to the final table. Getting to the FT will make a difference to your bankroll and not getting ITM

I take advantage of the situation and my table. If players are tightening up or short stacked then I will try and raise if my stack allows it (>25BB). If I'm below 25BB then my game is as usual and maybe tighter. I won't go up against a big stack. Below 20BB I'm looking to just fold, fold and fold. I will look for a spot to shove if I have big cards or just about any ace. I also my take extra time to make a decision if I'm short stacked.

I try to play even more cautiously and tight. Sometimes steal blinds. If the stack is small then throw with an average card to throw in an all.

It depends what your goal is: are playing to win the tournament or just pass the bubble. In a satellite, where everyone after the bubble gets the same ticket, all you need to do is fold, if your stack is large enough in relation to the blind and ante size. Otherwise, play aggressively and take advantage of the passive and cautious players.

Depends on the amount of chips you have. If it is favorable, play aggressively against players with medium and low stack to steal chips. If your stack is medium or low, you should play passive to not be the bubble

It depends on your goal in this tournament:

Wanting an FT you must be more aggressive, explore the game, especially near the bubble.

I understand players who need a lot of the return of the tournament, sometimes they got places for very cheap satellites and have high profit expectations only with the bubble

The bubble can be a great time to pick your spots and build your stack, most players are very tight around the bubble but with experience it can be a very profitable time.

In the case when you come to bubble with an impressive stack compared to other players, this is an excellent reason to do it even more. You can play aggressively, steal blinds, bluff.

I just made my first live final table last Friday. Only the top four cashed though. If everyone agreed to we would've chopped the prize pool and the 10 at the final table would've all walked away with $100. The two biggest stacks were the only two who didn't want to chop so we all played on. Once I knew that we were not going to chop I made my mind up to play for the $500 first prize, never mind the $100 for spot four. I ended up shoving all in for my last 27,000 chips under the gun with AKo. I was called by the chip leader and lost. I might have been able to play no limit fold em and cashed 4th, but like I said I wanted 1st. Unfortunately I busted out in 7th.

The biggest mistake of the newcomers is to drop the cards with a good hand to get into itm. Nenad generally look at prizes, there is a good hand - play, depending on the situation of course.

In most tournaments the money jumps get realy big. Having a bigger chance of winning the tournament by having more chips is always worth the risk of losing an all-in with a monster hand.

Abuse other players who are afraid and improve your chances to win it all!

many people freeze up or play too tight at this stage of the game. I always play premium hands aggressively and don't stop in this situation. If you don't hit, then fold, simple. Stay away from moderate hands as you could end up outside the $$$$$

Well, it all depends on how I go from these 55, if I play as if I play, if I do not take a lot of risk and play only a good card, I'm all-in and hope for the error of other players that would survive the bubble and enter the prizes, well There as a card lies ...

In the bubble changes the style of play a little, ewcoger your cards and be extremely aggressive can lead you to success, analyze the movements of your opponents know with which hand to go or match an all in

At that time the best thing you can do is to be compliant and try not to commit smithies, once you break the bubble keep calm

You have to realize that most of the other players are trying to also make it into the money bubble and are doing one of two things.

1)Most players will be folding to everything that is not very strong and will thus be just blinding out until they are in the money.

2)The other players will either be largestacked or very ballsy and will be playing extra aggressively (especially pre-flop) attempting to induce folds and take as many chips as they can while the rest of the players are folding off they're decent hands.

Playing the bubble always brings out some interesting thoughts. While there are people that try to get hyper-aggressive, this can easily backfire and cost you chips.

I just play my normal game for that level. I'm not going to expand my range to pick up a pot with the potential of getting into a big pot with a hand I'm not fond of because I got my hand caught in the cookie jar.

Personally, I take more chances early to get a big stack so I'm not stressed by the bubble. The bubble is just an inconvenience where the game slows down. I get far more aggressive AFTER the bubble when people cash and the short stacks start to shove.

i think stack sizehas a lil to do with how I would play around bubble-if yer short stacked choices are limited,if yer chip leader than I would take advantage of those playing to make money or itm, alot of ppl tighten up around bubble,i think keeping all options open is the way to go

I think it is situational. I would take little advantages where you can by stealing the blinds knowing players are a little tighter and can get away with stealing with above average hands in good position. I would avoid coin-flips however and try to get in the money without jeopardizing big chunks of my stack on chance if you can.

I am saying this from personal experience......
FOLD TILL YOU DROP:cool:
I even flung aces like it was nothing:D

I have been so many times on the bubble where i saw that if i had only mad the pre-flop call that i had won the pot.
But i prefer not to take the chance NOW.

In the beginning when i was just learning i played normally and nearly never made the money:eek:.

But of course you have to learn from your mistakes:D

Thats why when i am so close to the money it is very very veryyyy hard to keep me away from the money now.

You are very lucky to be a member of cardschat, where u can ask for advise and get some good ones.
In my beginning i had to learn everything the hard way.:(

So if you have poker buddies, you can also advise them to join cardschat where they can learn a lot.

Hope this is of some help to you:)

Regards, Navin

If you're playing for the win, then you can definitely become more aggressive. However since you're asking im guessing cashing at all matters to you. So if you're not in danger of bubbling to the blinds, its best just to fold all hands but AA and I mean AA, I have bubbled many a tournament with KK.

It depends on how much chips do you have.
Is your goal based on payout structure is to just min cash? That's not the ideal scenario
Players tent to play too tight/passive so you can loosen up and attack the dead money on the table. Saying that is easy but implementing that is HARD
