Yes absolutely. The number of MTTs with a buyin of $1.1 is limited, so its difficult to get volume. And the fields are typically also very large, meaning that even with a bankroll of 100 BIs the risk of ruin is fairly high. In the SnG lobby however there are a variety of suitable games for a small bankroll including the $0,25 to $1 "on demand" games, which are in fact like small MTTs.
By playing those you will reach the final table much more regularly than in 700 player MTTs, and for this reason they are also great practice. Its a bit like being a runner and starting with medium distance races rather than a marathon. For me personally there is also an argument, that if you are essentially playing for pennies, its not really worth it having to devote up to 6 hours at a time, as the big field MTTs take, unless they are turbos.
