Oh and is bridge a hard game to learn?

It really depends how good your memory is. It's not learning the game that's hard, it's learning a specific bidding system.

I actually have a question for all the SNG players out there.. just out of curiosity.. how many games do you play per month?

As many as I can but it isn't many.

Jan = 29
Feb = 27
Mar = 9

I've played about 150 this month, which might be my largest month ever (while still a pretty small sample size). So much for not having enough time lol.

I don't know if Double or Nothings count but

January: 2899
February: 1111
March: 1936

In general, if I run bad, I play fewer games because it kills my motivation.

Got in 135 5$+25c HU sng's in this week. And I achieved my goal :) up 102$(20$ from bonuses), 2$ more than I wanted. Also my game has improved a lot lately. Glad to see my ROI above 10%. (it's 12.14, 15.11 with bonuses), but I have been running kind of hot those last couple games so that might be an overestimation :).

Ah and of course I'm reaching that dreaded 65th post today so everything is wonderful.

Okay that's what I thought, I didn't know if the near-guaranteed gamble with the BB meant I should hold off on shoving. I guess I was just being results-oriented. BB showed J7, hit trip sevens on the flop.

Bad Luck there...

Yeah, definitely, :(. Before I shipped, I got kind of excited, cause I was like "oh, he's gonna call me with his entire range, and I should be way ahead!". But really, I'm only a 2-1 favorite most of the time... Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

I think I'm gonna try to get SilverStar next month on pokerstars... I've withdrawn most of my money from Tilt, and plan on taking out all my money from bodog and Carbon. I'll six-table the $6.50 turbos and hopefully I can accomplish this goal (and maybe profit a little, :p).

well my first month back playing sng and its gone ok i guess.. overall i played mostly the 3.40 turbos with a few 6.50's in a well.. went well in the $3, didnt have a losing session. but dropped a lot in the 6.50s due to horrible play on my part, and also running badly as well..

next month im looking to get into the top 20 sharkscope rankings for 2-5 turbos.. then ill move onto the 6.50s

the volume im sort of happy with.. i def could have put in 1500 games.. but times i just didnt get the motivation... or energy.. since i also have a 70+ hour a week job,, i dont have that much time to get games in.. Looking to set up my monitors so i can play 20+tables. stuck on 12 atm can do 15 but the overlap is annoying..

i dont play Hu too much other than the end of a 9 man SNG. But think you can give up your button w/8 high and such a small chip stack. also raise the flop here. there are tons of scare cards that can kill your action on the turn. any diamond,3,7 or even a high card could squash all you action. big hand big pot. raise it up.

Well I was pretty confident that my opponent had either overs or a big hand , also he'd been pretty agressive so I let him bet. My read wasn't perfect, but I made the right play vs that opponent.
Also If I fold every BB when he raises I'm going to get into trouble. Running into a monster postflop is a risk you have to take when playing LAG.
In my mind when I pushed I thought "he'll call me with an overpair, maybe with a big draw, certainly with trips, very likely with A6, K6 or Q6, a low percentage of the time with overcards and he'll fold if he has nothing. Only a few hands could beat me and I was already pot comitted.

Woohoo, I played 195 SNG's this month... Profited for the first 120 or so, then this past weekend I started playing a ton of turbos, ran really bad, and it all went downhill, so we won't play those anymore.

Also, I committed a terrible sin today... And four-tabled .02/.05 RUSH :( but I ran 8.47 BB/100 over 1400 hands, so that's not all bad.

Overall, a good month for me!

This month let's go for...

1 - Volume, at least 200 STTs
2 - Move up to the $10 level full time
3 - Profit

...and yep, for the first time that'd be a fail-fail-fail.

I didn't play at all for the better part of two weeks, some travel and work just got in the way. Ended up playing 115 games for the month and finished -$74.14. First losing month in quite some time, hoping it's the last one for some time too!

My goals will be simple:
  1. Play at least 550 sng's.
  2. Reach Gold Star Status for first time!
  3. Resume coaching.
  4. Any ROI will do as long as it is not negative lol.
Reachd the top 3 anyway! (Then my coach stopped private coaching for a while)

I've never posted to this thread before as I'm conscious that my goals are pretty weedy compared to some of the posters on here but anyway here are my monthly aims...:

1) Play 50 SNG's at $2 + $0.25
2) Achieve ROI > 25%
3) Multitable where possible and maybe move up to 3 tables
4) Finish Collin Moshmann book and apply the principles!
5) Not get seduced by AQ hands.....

All this is subject to a house move that takes place next week which may reduce my time at the tables - suspect my girlfriend will have an issue with me playing poker when there is all sorts of stuff to do around the house!

Good luck to all

Mark

As expected the house move took up more time than I hoped so only managed 24 SNG's and with a bad start only achieved 5.5% ROI. Didn't multitable 3 tables and working through the Moshmann book still. Worked on the AQ successfully though!

Very good month for me ( or should I say last 15 days as I played only during last 15 days this month due to health problems) :
Played 267 turbo 6.5$ 6 man with a 12.7% ROI (EV ROI around 15%). :)
Moreover I've succeed in going Silverstar in the late hours of the month.
These turbo 6 man looks to be the perfect spot for me but we'll see if it can last more than 15 days :confused:;)

Well news from start of April ... in April thread :p
