He was my first backer- Pascal. He used to post here. He did a number of sweats with me and was really good when I first started out with his little stable in getting me set up right. There's a lot of little things as an MTT grinder like having food sorted before you start or not playing unless you're ready for a 12+ hour grind or just being able to put up with the endless list of bad beats that he really helped with. I don't really tilt nowadays or even get frustrated when I take a bad beat and I think a lot of that was down to him.

Back down south for the next few days seeing the girlfriend and a few friends while I'm here. Going to London and taking her to see a Derren Brown show. If you don't know who he is, check him out on YouTube. Off the poker til Friday or Saturday I guess but hopefully the break will do me good :)

Thanks for the fast response. I've played in the 2.70$ and 5.40$ ones but never in the Saturday Eliminator. How's the level there? Is it the same as the above mentioned levels? Sorry for spamming your thread :(

It's got 15 minute levels so it plays a lot slower. If you're more confident in your post flop game than your shove/fold game then it's great but it's a much higher buy in than the 1.35 or 2.70 turbos. Even though the swings will be smaller you should only play it if you're rolled or have money aside for a shot take.

So I've been playing some MTTs while grinding cash and I feel I'm only making errors when shortstacked, which is to be expected I suppose. Just wondering how your game plan alters from 100BB > 30BB/20BB/10BB. I really have no clue about stacking ranges, is there a chart or something I can look at?

Yeah there are lots of good shove/fold charts out there. Just remember to factor in antes. You shouldn't really be open shoving more than 20bb but you also don't want to be trying to steal too much with a 25bb stack unless you're willing to go the whole way with the hand. 15bb and below you can start shoving pretty wide especially when in late position. Post some hands if you're unsure.

Well, with the stacks it gives me room to fold if the 3bettor jams. It's not ideal, but the original raiser seemed to like spazzing so I figured he could be light open and a light 3b and even if I don't get folds, I have a strong hand and can play them pretty well post flop.

Here's the hand for reference for anyone who didn't see http://www.boomplayer.com/en/poker-hands/Boom/3996713_6132A89C5A

Pretty much butchered that last hand. Meant to 3b much bigger, was less than a min raise, should been like 19999 and then he played it like exactly what he had, I just couldn't think of a hand in his range that he would do that with except 99, the 9 river killed me. I should fold the turn.

Yeah the flop call then raise turn seemed pretty strong. Unfortunate, can't see the opposing players hole cards until it is to late though and that is why we all play this game.

Also yeah that 9 was definitely a sick card. Also hard since when you check the river you are kind of revealing the strength your hand which helps angle yourself into a call on that river to a shove (at least in my case lol).

Nice run, Jonny, maybe next time and if not then the next or the next etc...

Been a bit quiet in here recently. I've just been here peacefully grinding :) Micro Millions is here so my schedule changes up a bit. I want to play as many of these as I can. This morning I woke at 4am after 4 hours sleep to late reg Event 6. My plan for these is to double early because you only start with around 20bb when you reg an hour and a half late and if I don't, get some more sleep :)
I'm gonna be playing these as well as all the Bigs and Hots I can fit in as well as some 180 mans to pad out my table count. I've played about 10 of these in the last couple days, cashed 4 including a 1st and a 2nd so I think I should play as many as I can.

I'm going to read up CCs strategy articles on MTTs and if I'm not late and feeling comfortable enough I'll probably play the MicroMillions event 14. You going to be in it John?

Which one was 14? Lol. I've played all the ones today from the 7am one today. Did best in Badugi but busted just before the money after someone called my pot sized 3b for half his stack with a draw and got there.

I played in the BADUGI one too from this morning. I got wiped by a fish who change 3 cards in the first draw, 2 in the second and 1 on the 3rd and I had badugi to 7 all set from the begining and all just before the cash :X

After being crippled there is this a standard shove. I was thinking I can never fold a broadway but my shoving ranges should alter based upon the action in front of me, correct?

AK shove is fine. QJ you can find better spots with 10bb but I don't mind. You're gonna get called so light in this super KO so you have like no fold equity and QJ plays ok.
