in this situation with a short stack in the middle position could go аllin hand with much weaker pair of nines. so you did everything right.

I disagree with the board totally but im a flop player if people allow me to see flops I am gonna win generally the more I see the more trouble I am for a field of players. I would call the blind here not all in or shove.

I want to see the flop determine where stand do hit my set? Is there an over is board akq? Etc..

If someone comes over top of me I would generally call but is more involved how strong is table what are other stacks what notes have on them is it loose or tight etc..

You need to know these things are pockets holding up lately etc..?

I play to get to final 3-4 people where the real money is each position moves up a lot of cash I am buildiing a bankroll from freerolls so longer I last better I am even if blinded out.

Is just me,,, if had a bankroll of 2000 dollars would be thinking a bit differently but for me pennies matter right now since back online for six weeks.

So is more involved overall that is part of the equation I think people are wayyyy tooo loose in general at final tables and think most times because of patience I come out way ahead of what I should.

You have LESS than 4 bb. Calling here with the intention of folding if you dont hit your set of have an over pair.... (really???) is the worst THING YOU CAN DO HERE. Folding when it is folded to you is the second worse thing you can do here. Or maybe there are just two worst thing you can do here.......

Post flop play?? How?? You will call ( your stack is apx 3.75bb, so now pot 3 1/2 bb and your stack 2.75 bb), so how is post flop play in any way an option for you?

Folding 99 here when folded to should be a criminal offence....

There are just two possibilities. Move your chips in the middle, as you're ITM ;)and shortstacked or you've to fold.

had yesterday nearly the same situation. And ITM is just one thing to do, be aggressive to go as far as possible.

Very often, especially when long in coming playable hand, you want to start the game from an earlier position than envisaged strategy. Do not do it. Strategy very carefully calculated mathematically, and when you enter the game from an earlier position, that increases the likelihood that you will be the opponent for the best hand. Therefore, when this error on the distance your results will be worse.

My short stack in itm game will vary slightly. Depending on the position go into a lower pot with considerable letters or'm very aggressive. But will vary according to the situation and table where I am.

First, don't let yourself get down to only 3.5 bbs unless it's because you lost a big pot hopefully on a sick suckout. Allowing your stack to dwindle under 7bbs is almost criminal and is definitely negligent. At around 8 bbs or less, you should be shoving fairly wide in late position. Just ship it. even the 80/20 dog wins 20% of the time. when you have 13-20bbs, you have a nice reshove stack. Find a LAG, opening lots of pots and pick a hand to stuff in his face. Doesn't have to premium. Odds are at worst you're a 60/40 dog. TJs, QJ, suited connters, all your premiums, probably down to AJo+. KQ and KJ can get you into a lot of trouble. Suited gappers. You're not going to win every tourney doing this but reshipping on the lags who are stealing blindes and antes is a good way to chip up. Pay attention to the table. Find someone who folds to 3bets. Sometimes you run into a buzzsaw but you'll be pleasantly surprised how often you will chip up.

The question of what to do with the nines doesn't really matter anymore, the post I quoted states what to do to avoid getting in this situation to begin with. Obviously you were playing to cash in this tourney, not to win, and that's the problem.

Playing the Carbon Poker 2014 freeroll last night. Had about 7500 in chips left, in middle position. Blinds at 1000/2000. I am dealt a pair of nines. It was folded to me. What is a good play here?

Shove =) you have a little over of 3BB. Pair of nines is a complete shove for me

Shove that hand and don't look! I get a little ****y with pairs especially itm. Since it was folded to you, I'd take 99 over the other guys hand any day, even if it loses from time to time. Can't win em all.

I'm not waiting, if it's folded to me, I'm ALLLL INNNN. However, if there's action before me, I'll fold. Mmmm. Rethinking ....... If there are a lot of other short stacks, I'd fold, it not I'm all in either way.

Maybe... but what if pockets aren't holding up lately? I mean do you really want to risk your tourney life when its been clear that pockets haven't been holding up? I can see maybe an argument for 'if pockets haven't been holding up lately'... maybe this is making them more due to actually hold up so in that case I suppose I can see your point. (maybe)

This is one of the easiest what would you do scenarios... YOu are ont he short stack have no way to protect your hand, and if someone has you beat they will call you, or if they have a ot of chips they will want to gamble... SHove all day every day with this hand in this position...

You have to shove here. Not that hard of a decision. If you are trying to wait for a better hand then you are wishing on a star. Take advantage of your hand and position where you are jamming from. Most likely scenario is the BB if big stacked will call with any A or K based on being priced in.

In this situation, there is nothing to think, it is necessary to go on to Olin.
