This is the last 5 players of 180. I'm Joachim with a tight table image.

Villain is solid and fairly tight. He has tried a few steals and is capable of getting pushy with the big stack.

With the limp from the SB, I thought maybe a weak A. When he flat called my flop bet, I thought 1) slow played a overpair, 2) club draw or 3) the straight draw.

Do I check or bet my 2P with that board?

I bet and a substantial raise.

I have fairly hopeless boat outs if he has the 5 or T.

I'm crushing the slow played pocket j's or q's that he probably doesn't have.

Fold here?

I'd think about shoving, then fold. With a reasonable stack left we still have room to pick a better spot.

Although the villain is representing a straight, they could have it or a load of other hands that have you beat: a set, better 2 pair. Even if you are ahead to their JJ or Jc2c there are plenty of outs for them to get you.

Generally, I hate to get involved in any pot where my connectors only half hit a board, especially if it is flushy or straighty - it is just too easy to lose chips to the straight or flush or set or get into a position of having a tough decision, such as here.

I would fold unless you think he was calling down with atc looking to float you here.

First off I'd never overbet the pot on the flop.
Once I bet & am called on that board, I'm NEVER betting out on the turn in pos.,... instead I'm hoping to get to showdown for cheap!!! (I don't want to get bluff-raised off the best hand... & by just checking behind I have outs to the boat.. so why bet out & get put in a terrible spot?)

The pot was about 3k on that flop, I think?

Still might have been too strong a bet for this situation.

I think your post sums it up nicely...... just not a board to be screwing around with 2P, and I had the chance to just see some more cards.

I feel dumb, because what I highlighted seems so obvious after the fact.

Anyway, I did exactly the wrong thing and shoved. He had the 10.

Pay attention, kids, this is how you stay out of the bigger money at
the top of the food chain.
