When you have a big stack, the last thing you want to do is slow down the game. ROFLZ

I would play online but have a thing about putting credit card details on the net. Maybe I'm old fashioned? I have went to open a few accounts but they all want credit card details to register. So that leaves me playing against one-armed Bob and Max Flush down the golf club on Friday nights...................

i would say you are being a little old fashioned, just go deposit, pft!

you live in banbury????? thats so random, i have passed through there, went to stay in a place called Manjimup many years ago, beautiful area, definately makes up for the lack of dealers lol

Cuttle if you are worried why dont you open a debit account and use that card and only put money into it when you want to deposit, or open a paypal account?

Wasn't a home game, was a local pub/club game. Players deal until it gets to final table then they put a dealer on. On that, can't believe how many people are not used to players dealing cards! You do know the button is the "dealer button" right? :)
is it second down from the top? better button it up or you won't be playing chess in Europe baby!

Somebody shuffling for 2 minutes is either totally inept, or a bona fide card shark, and is stacking the deck.

Welcome to Bunbury Western Australia. Population 80,000, nearest city is 240km away, and even then it's Perth which is one of the most remote cities in the World.......... not a great deal of choice.

Maybe I do need to look at playing online after all......

He was wasting his own time when he could have been using his stack to bully the table. Not a good idea. When I started out playing poker I used to use this tactic to get in the money or move up the money ladder but it's counter-productive if you're playing to win.
yeah this, why do that, unless he thought he could induce frustration and have short stacks move in with less than they normally would ... i would think he wasn't confident in his game or his patience ... a confident player would bully the table not the timer

I have mostly played slow near bubbles so I could make the money. However in DON's as a large chip leader I occasionally do it to induce frustration so that the shorties will feel compelled to act, often irrationally.

The clock online is a tool to use in STT's and MTT's. Live? I would want to throttle a deliberately slow player and certainly never invite him back.

Tell him to speed up and offer to deal for him if it's a problem.

It's rude and stupid to play like that with the big stack. And while I was often guilty of the slowing down when on the bubble and short stacked in big online tourneys (hoping someone else would bust first), I would never do it in a live game. I do realize there can be tilt-value in getting others steamed, but that's so unpleasant in real life with no way to mute everyone. :)

At a home game, I wouldn't be caught dead doing this, for the most part. Slowing down when he is dealing the cards just seems to be real poor etiquette. However, if it were at a tourney in the casino, I would have no problems doing this as I'm just trying to make as much money as possible(, where as the home game should be more for fun with friends). If done in a home game, it cuold get you not invited back, so take caution if you do decide to.
DITTO - I'm not above milking the clock and have online and in the casino (within reason). It does not enter my mind in a home game.

Although I gotta say that if I'm chip leader I'm really not going to be doing this. I'm going to be using my stack to exert pressure and for me the more hands the better. If I am a middle or low stack and the bubble is coming is when I am more likely to do it to try to force another bubble area player into a risen blind situation.

There are other methods.
I currently don't own/have a credit card but have 23 poker accounts online (15 of which are active & played on at least on a weekly basis).
Maybe getting a prepaid credit card could be an option for you? Or.. open a Moneybookers account (via pre-paid credit card, or int'l bankwire transfer).

Online play is so convenient. I prefer walking over to my computer than walking 5blocks down the street to a game.
