Hey guys how do you deal with tilt just as an example yesterday I kept getting it in both calling pre flop shoves and then when short (15bb and below) I was ahead by over 60% every flip and lost them all at important parts of the tournament all gearing up to have a decent stack for when the bubble burst aiming to go on and final table. I was losing flips like QQ vs A6o KK vs 76s AKs vs 23o just ridiculous flips to be losing my bankroll took a real hit because I couldn’t believe I could keep losing flips like this any tips should I walk away sooner than I did I think I played 5-8 tourney before I had to give up didn’t cash any although I was aiming for the ft not a min cash! Was this just a bad day or is my math wrong any help would be appreciated

My advice to you, read about the variance in poker and you will answer your own question...

Yeah I know about variance it’s just all too real when it is happening consecutively Over the space of a few hours on every table you play. Any advice on how to deal with the variance like take a break for a while or just power on through assuming it will balance out before you go broke

I can say that today I played a spin of 12 games won only 1 time, and yesterday it was the opposite...Break or patience...

In poker you can have many many bad days even if you play optimal..Varience especially in big field tournaments is very big.i have many examples of sessions which was disaster for me..Once i had downswing around 500 mtts..couldnt cash nothing important..There are many days i couldnt win a single flip etc..Just prepare yourself mentally, poker needs strong stomache to face variance..Good luck :)

Thanks I was just starting to doubt my math even if I am running bad I should still be making those calls and short shoves rather than nit folding hands to get to the money right?

I can recommend you to stop playing for that day because it often happens that we get blinded and say: I can recover what I lost, I want my rematch, etc etc and it turns out that it is worse and you end up losing everything

It's about making the right decision, which you seem to be doing..not the result..bad beats can certainly put you on tilt..if you're 'fuming' take a break, if you're dealing with it..carry on..

Always need to stay calm while playing poker

Always need to stay calm while playing poker. Tilt depends only on your inner and emotional state, so just learn not to react to the losses. Each player periodically loses and periodically wins, the main thing is not to drop your hands and always play according to your chosen strategy, regardless of the outcome. Very often after a player loses a hand, he hits the tilt and then loses his stack. This is a BIG MISTAKE.

It’s so hard to not get emotional and feel targeted by the Poker gods when you are at the bottom end of variance. Sometimes you just need to take a break. I spend my tilt moments studying.

Yes. you're not the only one. every player in poker has such a band. it just needs to be experienced, but how? this decision is personally for everyone. you can argue with fate and stay with a zero bankroll. but I would advise to take my mind off the game for a while.

You’re making the right decisions in the long run that should make you a winning player. You’re running bad take a day or 2 off. Study, workout etc

Relax and wait a second day, I often succumbed to tilt, and lowered all the money, so it's better to wait a day, and tomorrow when luck will be on your side to return to the game.
