balancing tables in a tournament

situation: 10 player tables, 1 seat open, the small blind.

Can a player joining a table come in on the small blind or wait until the button moves?

I think both options are possible. Depends on the rules of the poker site or tourney location . Though i think it is more common that you have to wait until the button has passed you...

I’ve never seen a site or physical card room that allows you to come in from the small blind, though I’d bet they’re out there somewhere! Like Krarmer said, that’s mostly up to the discretion of the site/card room. Did you encounter this somewhere, OP?

Never seen it anywhere not online or in a card room,always make you wait till after the button passes
