Just try to play freerolls
The cardschat-freerolls on PS aren't that crowed, so you really have a chance of building a bankroll with those.

Thanks everyone, that's a lot of advice but it's all helpful. There's a massive majority of people telling me to go for the freerolls so I'll focus all my attention on that.
I have just tried one which started with a whooping 5000 players and got down to the last ~250 after 2 1/4 hours, but unfortunately didn't realise just how long those tournaments last, so I had to leave as it crossed paths with other plans. It did seem pretty straight forward to play a tight game with minimal bluffing and get to there which was a plus. I'll just have to have a lot of other go's and allow for more time

I'd suggest you to deposit $25 and play $0.25 sit n gos till you build your roll to $100 or you go to $0. The point of this is that you will learn about how real money games are and you won't lose a lot of money. While playing these games, buy boooks, read articles, watch videos, talk to other poker players. Do whatever you can to improve your game.

Playing hyper/turbo freerolls with 5000 players won't improve your game. You should focus on improving rather than making money right now. Winning freerolls will give you a small bankroll but you won't learn much from those games as it is pretty similar to play money since there is no investment at all other than your time. Put in $25 and do as said above ^^.
Good luck :)

Learning to play with money

I had to spend a good $50 depositing online before I learned how to turn a slight profit playing online. I lost and lost at NL2 cash games, only winning occasionally, so I moved on to micro SNGs and 55cent buy-in MTTs and free rolls. I slowly started building a bankroll, and I have slowly been moving up SNG stakes and winning more and more. So to construct a bankroll, get good at SNGs and start with those, because there are a lot of donkeys in them, and I still won a lot when I was (and probably still am) a donkey.

Large freerolls can take a long time. You have to block out a serious amount of time to finish.

I have a lot going on at my house so I always try to play single table sit and gos unless I know I have a lot of time.

Several times I have made it deep into some late night freerolls and actually fell asleep. I have woken up with more money in my account and also found that I blinded out right before the bubble and if I didn't fall asleep would have made the money or more.

I guess I am getting old so I don't enter any more late nighters.

Funny though, if I am playing live poker I can go all night and the next day.
