Add-on and Re-Buy

Some places allow Add-ons during breaks after level 10 with more Chips Re-buy and how do you apply to optimize this strategic add-on.

adding on depends on how deep is your stack in the tournament so if your short stacked it's obvious that you should add on and if your leading by far it's unnecessary to add on chips

I avoid add on and re-buy like the plague. They promote stupid play and keep tournaments going way too long. A pox on them!

I don't see many tourneys with that option anymore, I mostly see Re-Entry Tournaments now but when I have played in the past my strategy was to buy in just before add-on time I would enter and immediately rebuy then sit tight until add on period that way you start with a triple stack.
Obviously depends on the blind structure of the tournament if it this a +EV strategy.
