Playing in the $40,000 guaranteed MTT, $20+2 buy in with unlimited rebuys first hour and one add on after first hour. I have not had to rebuy and after the add on I have a little over 10,000, in 13th place. 1001 players started, pays to 130 places. 1st place over 13K, 130th about $80.

I go card dead durring the second hour and the few hands I have get no action.

In the third hour, blinds are $400-$800, I'm in the BB and after posting I have 5800 left. Villan is in middle position with about 16K in chips and raises to $2000. All players fold to me and it's $1200 to call. Over the last 10 hands or so villan as raised the pot 3 times with no callers. No other reads as I am fairly new to the table.

I have JJ. What's the play here?

Push. The high blinds:stack ratio makes this the only feasible option.

You have to push here. If you merely call, your betting what--about a third of your stack? Take control now and push.

I guess I just wanted some conformation. I did push all-in here. Villan called and showed AK off. Ace flopped and I was out in 168th. Oh well, nothing else I could do.

You could have done a stop-go push if no Ace flopped. I.e. just call, then push as first to act. It's a bit safer.
