I had a 2:1 chip lead going into HU with this guy, he got his chips the hand before by calling my push with AQ with a 10/6 and catching a 6, then he wins it with this gem

All in with 8, 9 suited? A raise maybe but not all in.

Why not.. at best he'd be a 3:1 underdog .. 2 cards vs 2 cards.
The guy is in the money.. so he called. In this case you were the slight underdog pre-flop.

Yep, it's only 8 9 suited if he's called - the all-in move was better than the call, but that's how it goes sometimes. I bet he thinks he's a pro taking that down.

the push was fine.
I hate hearing from people at my table "lol all in with xx??? what a donkey"
meanwhile they were the ones who just called half their stack with KT expecting to win.

Pushing and calling are two completely different things.

I've just started to examine the power of Suited Connectors after seeing the issue come up on a WPT episode. I guess it's the best type of hand with which to go up against AA.

A pro probably would have had no problem betting all-in with 98h. As an amateur, I actually would have folded & gave up my 300 SB. I like a little better hand to go all-in with my short-but-not-yet-desperate stack. Maybe that's why I'm not pro yet.
