I know villain loves to 4-bet high pocket pairs, as well as AK-AJ, so I put him on that range, and I was right. I was wondering if he would've folded if I just shoved the 5-bet.
Sigh...this was about 12 players to the bubble too.

Its fine. He would have called a shove as well. nh just unlucky.

Thread is marginal to be left here. I'm moving to the HA section, but post results like this again, and it go's straight to the bad beats section.

meh... ya think? (idk) HERO's 4bet sizing is a bit odd imo (they're putting in 1/2 stack).. although villain's flat is even stranger.

fwiw, I prolly 4-bet to ~4,750 there (if stack was just a wee tad shorter I might flat pre... & if a tad shorter than that... 4bai).

Well 4,750-6,500 you would "I" would guess both would get a shove or a fold TBH.
Like ya said flatting is very strange.

Villain 3bet and flatted your 4bet pre..what do you mean he loves to 4bet high pockets and A-J/A,K? (He did no 4bet pre).. It's quite obvious he has Jacks/Queens exactly here unless he's trying to be creative by flatting the huge pot committing raise pre and intends getting it in on any flop.

I don't like your 4bet sizing btw..I think it can be much smaller, if you know his range for 3betting is going to be JJ+ then you can make a smaller 4bet and call of his 5bet shove pre.

When you 4bet pre so big here, you're basically telling him you have KK/AA here imo and happy getting the chips in.

More times than not though when someone puts in a 4bet of this sizing, you can fold JJ-QQ here vs most villians unless you have a terrible loose image. If you raised slightly smaller it, keeps his worse pairs in more times than not + gives them the chance to spazz 5bet shove.

When he flats though with JJ, it's just bad..not sure what's he's trying to do apart from "trapping" with KK/AA or lol setmining...

As played though, there is nothing you can do but put the chips in on the flop and you got unlucky.

IMO though, I think we should 4bet to about 5k or something and let him shove JJ+

You seem to be asking if you could have won the hand by playing it differently. That's the wrong question.

Your opponent got his stack in drawing to two outs twice. What's the problem? Would you even consider asking the same question if you'd won the hand?

Your sizing may not have been optimal to get him in, but that's a very different question. And in this instance, it probably didn't matter.

Either 4 bet smaller or shove

Personally, I prefer 4-bet shoving because of our stack size. We're shoving nearly every flop anyway, might as well get it in pre.

without previous dynamics i prefer a jam over that weird sizing, since he prob calls a shove wider than he jams over that super strong sizing.

I don't mind the sizing (unlike some) because any thinking player at that point should jam or fold. I see alot of players spazzing w their Ak/JJ at that point. The effective flop ship gets exactly the result you want.

highly doubt he is a thinking player, also highly doubt he gives us enough credit for having a light 4bet range so all we do is further narrow our range,

You cannot have it both ways ... a non-thinking player does not perceive this as a "narrowed range".

Freeroll so just 4bet jam, just unlucky. The chips were going in anyway
