What the hell did your opponent have to go all the way to the river, then fold when getting 5-1 to call? Smells like a missed flush draw to me.

Same. I'm almost sure that's what it was. Only other conceivable possibility is that they were holding J9 just like Twizzy was, and looking to hit the open-ended draw.

Isn't that one of the cardinal rules of poker? "Never bluff a calling station?" You got lucky when you missed his draw.

bluffing into five other players (at least one of whom by your own admission is a calling station) in an unraised pot? Haven't we discussed this before twizzy? ;)

Take the free card on the flop. All you're doing by betting is making yourself pay to hit your draw, as at least one person is invariably calling.

That is the whole point dorkus, based apon position the semi bluff was great cause in such a situation... The semi bluff turned it to heads up..

When he called me after the turn.... I had to push what was left into the pot into hoping he would fold.... A check on the river would mean I was dead.... The semi-bluff into a open ended straight flush draw on the flop gave me control of the hand...15 outs to win the hand X4 is 60% to hit.. so on semi bluff bet I had nothing to lose considering everyone checked to me.
