How can you put the guy on tens... Why not 9s or jacks

Well the only thing that beats you is AA, KK or any hand with a 5 in it (A-5?) You have to call. Villan can make this play with any pair and since there are more pairs lower than QQ than higher and considering there were not reraised preflop (although people love to slow play AA) I would suspect you range (88 to JJ) has a likely holding (more than 60% I'd say).

Of course might also have a straight which is now dead to your boat.

Nice job. I would have put him on 10's, but 9's is close enough. No way you couldve folded that.

Your PR is to weak - for only an extra 60 the BB may see the flop - and could easily flop something better than your over pair!
Personally, I would have gone for a raise to about 150.

first hand of the tournament though? your not going to get any action if you throw to much more at it.

To be honest (but i'm scared of high pockets), first hand or not it doesn't matter, you would have still got your caller with the 99 and it still would have gone down the same way as before but pushed the SB out atleast because although it doesn't happen all the time, the SB could have flopped 2pair straight or anything!

But if it was the first hand of the tournament, how did you put him on 99-JJ? Because he could have also been playing KK..

B/c I would think he would have reraised me on the turn. With another person in the pot why would he want someone catching an ace. Just by calling my raise I feel that I had the best hand at the time..
