Late in a MTT would you rather hold on to squeeze out a few more places, or go for a win?

You're already in the money so taking a shot is a good option here. Most players are probably still playing tight plus you were faced with a coinflip situation. In this stage of the MTT, it's mostly luck.

Sure why not take a shot, besides being in the money already you still want to accumulate more chips if you can, the more chips you have the better chances of winning,, nobody remembers who finished 2nd.

I know hindsight is 20/20... but did you consider a stop'n'go? flat call preflop and push any non ace flop. i dont like the play that much but I don't necessarily think it was a bad play, you gotta be willing to put your chips in the middle at some point... just dont know if this was it

I did think about that, and is why I posted the hand. Wins I don't remember, but losses I try and analyze what I did / what my options were etc. I know that if I was the one with the AJo, and my tourney life was on the line, I'd have folded to such an aggressive push.

I wanted to take the pot right then and there, defend my blinds. I thought about calling, but if there had been say 2 paints on the flop and he had bet I'd be down to 10k chips after folding and with blinds and antes costing 2600 an orbit that doesn't take long until I no longer have the chips to put pressure on anyone. Granted it wasn't panic time yet, but I had folded from 22000+ chips down to where I was at and figured the bet would be respected based on my tight image. ( then again this is probably giving people too much credit for paying attention )

I honestly thought he'd fold, and I was willing to take the coin flip in case he didn't. The raise on the button seemed like a blind steal attempt to me.
