Around a third to half the pot, say 500.

There is no reason to suppose he would have the straight, so you must be ahead. I should say his most likely holding is an underset (55 or 44), but he could be as weak as two pair (A5 or A4).

You should be looking to bet the maximum you think he will call, but not so much as to force him to fold.

Probably half the pot, maybe a touch more, try and tempt him in, if you go all guns blazing he could be scared off.

It would also allow to see how quick he reacts - because if he has called all the way what are you putting him on?

Ace rag? Ace King? has he hit a straight with that rag?

To be honest looking back on it the turn was the place to push i think as there your only fear was a draw and would he have called that?

By allowing the river you've been left with questions that weren't there before :(

I understand betting only 40 on flop, that's a pot sweetening. Though I think that betting at least 120 is better - if you're betting much less than normal, it's more than obvious that you have a monster.
However, I really don't understand a 40 reraise, it's virtually a cards showing. I mean, if you want to hide your strength, you can just call. If you want to enlarge the pot, you can put a normal raise. By betting only 40, you are completely revealing your hand, without adequate enlargement of the pot. Double fail...

What would I do on river?
If a previous betting was normal - I'd bet huge, perhaps all in, trying to fake that I'm faking the straight. I'd do it with hope.
With this betting, I'd do the same thing. Just without much hope...
But the best move is probably some very small bet, about 100 chips. He could call just to see your hand...

Caution WILL ROBINSON!!!!!!!

It's level one, and early in this tourney. You probably have no reads on villian. He could be any type player.

I look at this and the only thing that prevents me putting villian on A3, 63, or 67 is his position. I could resonably expect them to be suited probably hearts.

Your trips are real nice, but he has a ton of outs in each of those situations at the flop, turn, and now he very well could have the nut or 2nd nut straight.

The hand didn't fill up here so, I think I weak lead (minraise, probing) here, with every intention of folding to the big bet.

That said, I can't count how many times I have not folded trips in this situation, and how many times I have had to pay it off.
