They usually don't fold and that's why you need to push to get more or their chips.
Your set is favourite.

Calling pf is correct imo.

I would've bet 400 on the flop ruling out 9,7 and 7,4 to be raising UTG.
AA-99 is a possible raise pf but then you're still up (I'm seeing high pp being min-raised all the time).
88 possible too, but wouldn't UTG raise more with the 3rd nuts after flop ?
77 gives UTG an OE straigt draw - so what, you're still in front.
66 would be a cooler - you'd just be very unlucky here.

I'd bet 400 again on the turn.
If I'd get raised or raised all-in I'd think about it again and probably close the shop and fold.

Would have been a hard laydown anyway.
Imo your move (defending a set against possible straight) is correct.

btw:-The fact that he caught the flush on the river doesn't change a lot.
- raising K7s UTG is somewhat fishy anyway.

The hands I wanted to eliminate with the turn bet were hands like A8 or AK suited.

I pretty much eliminated 88 and 66 when I didn't get reraised on the flop. The hand I was thinking he might have was 77 which is why I bet the flop hard.

You do understand that you want them to call with these hands as long as you are making them pay the incorrect price right?
