Thought he may be just taking a stab at a juicy board with nothing hoping to scare off others, so I called thinking i at least had mid-pair and he would not Double Barrel leaving me an opportunity to be the aggressor

Considering villain's stats he must be a habitual limper. So the better course of action would've been to raise all-in preflop since your stack size was about 7BB and your hand was good enough.

Calling on the flop was a mistake as you didn't have enough chips to spend in order to see additional board cards. You didn't have any fold equity (the villain was pot-committed) so imo it was better to fold.

Well, I have not played more freerolls where everything is folded

I'm okay with the postflop decisions but I agree with xbursonicx that we should just jam this all in preflop. It's very likely we just get a fold here. And we have a very short stack to be playing postflop. With a weaker hand I'd just check my option, but here I would jam.
