Without any reads, I wouldn't call all in the 1st hand with 88.

At best you're flipping, and at worst you're an 82:18 underdog.

He *may* have something like A2, but I'd need a read before calling that bet off.

Two reasons why I would not. One is you are not closing out the action and the players behind you should be play this somewhat perfectly (they may fold some better hands like 99 and 1010 but they are not calling with A5, 66, etc.). The other reason would be unless I know something about this jamming villain what can I reasonably expect to be up against? Maybe since everyone has 25 BBs to start that they go all in with any two but you dont know that yet. So my guess would be a range of something like 1010+, A10 suited+. Even if I were to loosen that range up and say 66+, A9+, KQ suited you still are 46% which is close to flipping but its still behind.

What I do in spots like these is have a initial guess on the range of villain and then think let me tweak it to my favor and see where I stand. If I tweak it in my favor and am still not in good shape then its a fold. If this player were a jam any two type then they will probably jam again light later on which by that you would know and could then play accordingly instead of just putting your chips in here on more of a guess.

yes i would have called because in hyper turbo tournaments you need to double your stack as soon as possible and you were just unlucky to lose when you were 55% ahead preflop.
