Hello :)

Last night I had a good run in a $10 rebuy and went on to win it.

See here..

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-goals-challenges-wins-46/two-ccers-same-final-table-91324/

I've since had a few requests for the hand histories (as well as requests for vids of a final table at some point). Initially I was a bit concerned about this as I wondered if it would affect my image when playing you chaps and chappesses in CC tournies. Then Tenbob said

"lol @ giving a shit about losing a $10 donkament because you gave away some tips. Worry about your many 1K+++ cashes instead."

Well to be honest the money isn't the issue in tournies versus you lot, it's just a hellavalot of fun. And on reflection the Irish fellow is right.

So here's the complete $10 Rebuy Hand History for whatever you might get from it.

I wasn't playing with public scrutiny in mind and I don't recall every hand so who knows what's in there, but I'd just make a few observations before you have a read (if you have the stomach to plow through).

1) It was a rebuy so the first hour is unusual and on top of that I had an awesome cardrush. I usually play a lot of hands in the first hour but in rebuys I play anything remotely cheap looking to hit a monster and will push coinflips. I don't play the same in freezeouts and wouldn't use this an example for that. If I play a rebuy I do so willing to rebuy as often as necessary.

2) I don't really get in trouble with my stack, so there's not too many difficult decisions to make in the first few hours.

3) I get a huge cardrush just on the bubble of the FT. This helps.

4) I sucked out big with 88 at the FT, I know and I'd make the same play again :)

5) I didn't have to make any big laydowns in this, which is unusual as usually that's key in getting to the end of these things.

6) A lot of my game is based on the condition of the table, my image and my opponents image and the relationship between us. There are probably things in here which I did against one opponent that I would have done differently against another.

So any feedback welcome and I don't expect any of you to respect my raises ever again :)

Highest table starts working down to table 1...

*Sees Rex is the only person who rebought before the start*

*Looks through first few hands*

Oh my, I need to start playing on Party again, some of that play is hilarious. I adore your valueshove (the players are so bad it really is a valueshove) for like 34968 times the pot with TPTK on a 9 high board.

Valueshoves in rebuys are my particular joy. It makes me so happy that you appreciate it in all it's glory :)

It was a seriously weak field, should have been me and Ron for the 1,2.

tyvm, Rex.

I had been thinking of asking for something like this from you, Chuck, TB or the likes of you, so this is great.

Also gives me something to do during slow times (like now) at work :)

Cheers Chuck :)

First one was more me demonstrating to the table I was throwing my weight around than anything I think. Yep, not +EV by any means.

The JT one, looking to flop a monster and trap I guess.

As for the Aces, that nearly made me weep with joy. Particularly after the spiritual home line.

Smooth call preflop? Really don't see the reasoning behind this, especially vs a player who's been pretty aggressive lately and with stack sizes. If we're sitting deeper, I do like a smooth call (very disguised play, possibility of stacking via outkicking a player), but I'm shoving like every time here.

I'm thinking min3bet is probably a pair, but then why are we smoothcalling? We can push out a lot of hands with a push, and force the decision on him. He's also not going to stack if we hit since he'll be holding an underpair...

Very well played, Rex. I saw a handful of hands I disagreed with (see above), but they got you the win. I won one MTT ages ago back when I was playing Titan, and aside from that I could use all the practice and info I can get.

Keep posting these if you don't mind. People benefit more than you would imagine just from reading through and seeing your p.o.v.

I'm not a big pusher of AK unless I'm shortstacked. The pot preflop isn't worth it for me if I take it down preflop against the risk of losing a really big pot.

As I see it his calling range is a lot of pairs and possibly AQ (though I'm not sure about that). He folds a lot of others.

I'll take the flop and look to play from there, if an A or K hits I'll assume I'm good (though AA and KK remain possibilities for him).

I don't want a coinflip here preflop and I really don't want him to turn AA or KK. I think he's calling with 66 here to be honest if I push (as you say he was a maniac) and I'd rather wait for the chance to bag him with a made hand.

My postflop blows chunks, big chance to take it on the flop and didn't.

I love betting paired boards and didn't for some reason. I guess I must have squarely put him on a pair and decided not to try to bluff a calling station (should state this guy was terrible).

Fair enough, but don't you think if he's calling as low as 66, then he'll also call with a wider Ax range?

Preflop push is not so bad here I agree. He's probably thinking I'm stealing so his range is big. However again I like to see a flop and try and make sure I win the big hands knowing I'm either ahead or they are going to fold when I want them to. A push from me and a call from him with TT etc and once again my tournies over half the time.

It's probably arrogant, but I feel I can play postflop poker at this stage of tournies in a way that means I don't have to take the flips and risks.

I think it's HoH3 where he says "there's no harm seeing a flop with AK" and I agree. Its pretty and it will win it's share of hands if you push with it, but in the course of a tourney if you push AK half a dozen times you will be out. There is of cours a time to do so, but if I can I like to see a flop and let an Axx or Kxx flop win me a big pot with minimal risk (and then of course there's the c-bets).

Interesting comments though and I don't disagree with what you are saying.

Really like the flop trap. wp :)

I remember this hand andI thought there was absolutely no way he made this move with a Q, he would have been looking for more value on the turn (I think it was an instamove as well, which sometimes indicates nothing).

I think we can value bet this.

As I checked, I thought "I missed a valuebet there" and as I posted the HHs I though I wonder if anyone picks up the valuebet with the ten on the river :) totally agree, could picked up a few more chippies but too eager to scoop it.

And the last hand is of course great...outs through the roof :)

Keep posting these if you don't mind. People benefit more than you would imagine just from reading through and seeing your p.o.v.

Thanks Chuck, I don't expect people to agree with me but it's interesting to hear how people's views differ from my own. I think I have developed an endgame that results in late finishes with minimal risk and I see situations where I know others would have (justifiably) put their chips in and bust out. At the same time I think I've avoided too much passivity, which is the other trap.

TB watched a final table I was at once and I said, watch this, 5 of them will commit suicide. And they did, getting all their chips in with any coinflip or desperate bluffs. There's time at FTs if you're not the shorty, but people seem to panic a bit too soon and reduce their options to play poker, which is what got them there in the first place.

Fair enough, but don't you think if he's calling as low as 66, then he'll also call with a wider Ax range?

Might just be my bias, but I think that proportionately you get more calls with a pair (as they tell themselves you have Ax, KQ etc) than you do from AQ, AJ from bad players. Could well be wrong about this.

Really like the flop trap. wp :)

I remember this one as I was going thru myself. The thing that stuck out for me was I didn't like his call preflop. If he thinks you're stealing, push preflop. Otherwise, fold. His M is ~5 to begin with. What do you guys think?

And yes, nicely played flop on your part. :)

I think you're right. It's fine as a stop n go if he's out of position because then he gets first crack at the pot and has a good chance of taking it down. The majority of the time, he's screwed though. Missing the flop and facing a c-bet, missing the flop and getting caught stealing (as in the hand), or hitting and getting outkicked.

For me, I fold and stick to preflop steals.

Interesting. Whats the best way to view hands graphically? Is there some software I can get? I've done a quick google but couldn't find anything obvious

This is great Irexes, I'll definitely give a nice and close look at this on Sunday when I'll finally have enough time to do it. Thx.
