No bad beat story here, just looking for some analysis from you all to help me and others. 108 get paid, 109 left, sitting at 77th. Been card dead and flop dead for last 45 minutes and been getting blinded down and raised out of pots when in SB or BB.

I keep thinking he's second in chips, he's trying to get me off the pot thinking I'll fold to hit the money and he builds his stack. I was wrong. Oh well, finished 108, hit the money. Play and learn for the future.

with AK in this situation i would be looking to get it in preflop, calling preflop is so weak unless u have the intention to shove over the top of someone who raises (which u didnt)
u had 12bb so i wouldnt want to open shove that so id probably raise to like 1500 or 2000 and be willing to put my whole stack in if i face a reraise
on the flop, i might have just checked and shove to villains c-bet or just shoved right there
u werent folding this hand, u just got a bit unlucky

Really hard to get off that hand, but probably should have. No reason to risk a nice pay day at this point. Pick your spots and be patient, better to go out betting than calling, GL

I wouldn't have gotten away from that hand.... I hate playing at bubble time! I always want to leave the computer til it's over, but I never do. Lost count how many times I should have just walked away.

I don't understand why you limped with AK. This is a raising hand for sure when your first in the pot. If you limped because you were on the bubble and didn't want to get knocked out. Why not just fold? Granted both are bad plays imo. I think no matter how you played this you were going broke(just bad luck), but limping is a sure way to give someone a chance to out flop you. I think your best play would be a normal 2.5-3.5 BB raise or maybe an all-in shove wouldn't be so bad. But I think folding would be a better play than limping.

I agree with pedroman. It's raise or fold. In this case, I think villain would have re-raised as he had you well covered and a playable hand. He had nothing to lose calling a push on the bubble. Rifle was also a shorty and likely to fold, and he did.

AK sure does look pretty, even 'gorgeous' if they're sooooted. but looks often come with a large pricetag.

That was a tough break and a lucky hit for them. It seems as though bad things happen on the bubble and often right before the break. I f you can just realize that making the money is the most important thing you can see to fold a big hand in a tight situation.

Whereabouts would you have got off of that hand?

Having been the bubble boy too many times, I would have folded the A-K (I am guessing that you could have easily coasted into the money since there were probably a few shorties with few options left). Once past the bubble, then you would push like all heck with a decent hand.

If you wanted to win some litle cash you should have folded the hand right at the start but you played and called a raise with a-k( should have reraised him) that you lost is too bad but why should you play this hand if you only want to make some money. Just wait till someone else becomes the bubble boy.

Oops - I think Rob is asking a good question. I missed that this was a freeroll, and I am guessing that the payout right after the bubble was next to nothing. If so, I would do the exact opposite of what I suggested earlier -- shove it all in instead of calling the 2,400 raise.

Really depends if u wanna go for the win or ust couple spots more into cash. If your goal is the make a big payday well u gotta shove pre specially with 12bb left and if he hits one of his 3outs well, thats poker cant feel too bad bout it.
