This is one of my first posts here, I used to post a little bit back when I wasn't as serious about poker. Okay so did I make the right call? What would you have done in that situation? Thanks for your help

Also note that this was one of the first hands in the tournament and I wasn't low on chips.

Well, okay.. you had one limper before you and you raised to 3xBB, that's pretty weak. It only costs the limper 2xBB to call your raise. Although it was a bad play on his part to play Ace-rag out of position, it's a $5 tourney so it's not unheard of.

Secondly, you weren't re-raised you were raised, and calling an HUGE all-in raise with TPTK is a really bad move with weak preflop action. TPTK goes down in value the more players there are in the hand.

So, in short.. if you'd made a more powerful raise preflop you probably wouldn't be in this position. But with weak preflop action, the range of hands you can be up against is big. I still think his preflop call with A5o is bad, I could see A5s. But yeah, I would've bailed this hand on the re-raise.. pretty hard to stick with TPTK with a huge raise like that.

It is early with no reads, I fold to the all in. The Ace is nice but not that nice.

no need to risk your stack this early with just top pair

note: leave out results for better analysis...maybe leaving everything up until he pushes, then delete everything else and throw some question marks next to your username....

then after some in depth analysis, post the results.

I'd fold this for a couple of reasons. First off, nobody at this level check raises all in on a bluff. Secondly, the risk vs reward is just too high. You can't win the SNG on the first hand but you sure can lose it.

I'd call this for one reason only. The play on the $5 SNG's is usually terrible (specially early on), with some people over playing top pair like it was the mortal nuts no matter what kicker they have. I actually saw someone once that got knocked out early on a play like this when they had top pair and a 5 kicker who then couldn't understand why they lost.

All things considered, it's the check raise that makes me fold here.
