I figured we were short handed and everyone wanted to limp I would take a peak. Flop comes and the BB pushes all-in. My first thought was why would he push here. It wasn’t a real good flop. This was what I was thinking: he could be on the flush draw, or he has a 9. I watched this guy push a lot of his chips with second pair earlier. The call risked all of my chips but I really felt I had the best hand. If he had a big Q he would of raised preflop, he cant help it. If he hit a set he wouldn’t of pushed because he knows I would fold. I thought about it a few more minutes and said I call.
He did not show his hand and I took down the pot.
Immediately after I am berated for making that call with all my chips. I thought I worked my way through it quite well. It made sense for me to call there the way the hand was played. I sat quietly stacking my chips. He goes on to say it was all luck and that poker is just luck. How can you make that call? I hear these a lot when I bust him and unfortunately I do it to him frequently. Is something just not clicking right in my brain. Did I not think this through properly? Winner take all set up I’m going to have to gamble eventually, I chose to gamble when I thought I was good.
He did say he had a Q with a weak kicker, but who knows.
Any and all thoughts are appreciated.
