bet around pot and be ready to call if he pushes. No reason to check this through you have a solid hand and good flop, why let him catch a 4 outer? Also be ready for him to yell at you for betting and thank him.

also no reason to slowplay this that flop he most likely caught a piece of.

really

Shove preflop.

As played, shove on the flop.

you don't want to try lead betting to induce a semi bluff? Most big stacks will try that.

seems to me your not getting good value from a really strong hand. I mean the board is very good for AK, top 2 pair most likley he has a piece of it. I mean if you lose to a 6 outer so be it but I would want more value here.

We have ~1800 chips left going to the flop. Pot is 780. A pot bet from us isn't fooling anyone - it's essentially commiting our stack (pot would be 1560, we would have ~1k behind) so we may as well just shove. Only a horrible player would try a bluff here, because anyone else would realise they have very little fold equity (plus it's really not a great board to try outright bluffing on in any case). You get more value here from getting your stack in now and inducing weaker made hands to call (consider the board - there are a whole host of weaker made hands the others could have) than by trying to induce a really horrible bluff.

I'm gonna try and do a thread splitting thingy here to avoid this thread being derailed somewhat.

I agree, I didn't take our stack into concideration here, there I go trying to be too sneaky again, nice follow-up GG.

goal-orientated

You're not going to check this down, not early in a tournament. If we're talking a SNG maybe, but not here.

No push from me, you're most likely going to get a fold, no gain. Make the 3/4 pot bet, shove on any raise. Shove on the turn if you get there, but with top 2 pair headsup, you want to try and get some value here.

Here's the next. By the way it is a SNG.

klitkat: bets 180
barco21: calls 180
*** TURN *** [Tc As Kh] Q♠

If its a SNG, your goal is the key to your decision. Most people play to win, so strong bet/push on the flop. IF you are more concerned with at least getting in the money, checking-down is perfectly appropriate - your hand is almost certainly a winner, and any hand that beats you should definitely take out the short stack.

With the turn card, you can either take 1 more shot at it (if you don't think he's got a J), or let it go and check-fold through the river.
Incidentally, your flop bet got you into this mess - you need to bet much more to make sure drawing hands don't follow you to the turn and get a card exactly like this.

Shove on the turn and hope he doesn't have a Jack.

I would have pushed all in pre flop.

U now have a decision to make. I would raise size of pot, leaving u with I think about 1000 chips? If he comes over u he has the straight.

I was lucky. With his hand and being chip leader I doubt he would have folded if I went all in PF.
