Disregarding the action that happened behind I realize it may have been a mistake to isolate instead of just calling. With my stack size and position should I be isolating or flatting shortstack jams?

if you raise half your stack you are committed. So iso is the same as jamming. So flatting is best if you want to save chips for the times someone wakes up with better hands or the action is really strong like here and we're forced to just dump half our stack for no reason.

we also don't neccessarily want to call this to begin with, the thing is we have quite a few players left to act at the table, meaning our calling range/iso jamming range needs to be much stronger in general.

so i think calling or folding are fine, not a huge fan of iso raising or jamming in this spot just due to the fact it's still a pretty big risk, our hand is crushed anytime someone behind us overcalls, and winning this pot really doesn't get us that much farther ahead in the game than we are now.

I'd prob fold, you're coin flipping or slightly behind vs his whole range here and there's too many players behind you still to act.

Plus, it means you still have to guy to your right covered which is always nice

With 44bb and 4 left to act behind you KQoff is not a hand I would call off 25% of my stack with, so shove or fold is the option. The MP vpip/pfr puts villain at a tight range, so he's probably holding Ax or better and we are behind. Should be folded pre and look for a spot where your position gives you a better shot at isolating the smaller stack.

I agree with what some people have said that calling instead of raising is the best option. for me with what people said that he's holding a good hand I'd fold pre flop.
