Just a $6 STT (I've dropped down in stakes since my downswing ) and we're sitting two to the money.

Pusher has been very quiet the whole game, but has started pushing a whole lot lately - roughly 4 out of his last 5 hands. Blinds are about to hop up to 75/150 very soon too.

PT stats beside names are rough estimations. Pretty much LAP players, but FD is very LAG and pusher was very TAP. I've been playing very TAG.

Push or no?

Fold for me. I must admit the turbo thing isn't my forte so I may underestimating how quick the blinds, but you are dominated more than you are dominating and when you are considering a coinflip to be a good result you don't want to be the one calling the all in I think.

Wait for a chance to get your chips in first so you have the equity of the blinds or call an all in with more of a chance of being ahead.

My problem is that I have two monster stacks behind me; one of them a completely LAG maniac, the other being more tight-passive, but a huge stack nonetheless. Both not ideal targets for blind-steals, and should I try to steal from the other players, I'll have these big stacks sitting with position on me....

But the consensus so far is that 88 isn't strong enough here?

if he's shoved 4 out of the last 5, i might call this.

Looking back, I exaggerated with 4/5.

To be exact, he pushed, folded 3X, then pushed 3X including this one.

A 12/4 is shoving nearly 14bbs? I fold this. I'd rather be shoving UTG with 44 (well, if our stack is a little shorter, a 16bb shove is a bit excessive) than shoving over the top of this.

And don't place too much credence on the big stack's looseness thus far. Unless as the blinds have gone up he's shown that he's continuing to play loosely, well, at the low limits a lot of players play these SNGs 'the wrong way around', that is they limp and call raises too much early on and then tighten up and sit on their stack later. That's not to say everyone is like this, but it's something to bear in mind - early looseness might be skewering the big stack's numbers.

Yes, you have two big stacks to your left. It's not a great situation. But this apparently tight-passive player is shoving 16BBs into the two big stacks blinds, and I think we have to come to the conclusion that we are flipping or way behind, and that even with our unfavourable seating we can find better spots than this one.

Edit: Okay I just read the bit about him shoving a lot, which broadens his range a bit but the fact remains he's shoving into the two big stacks, he appears to be a reasonable player, and he hasn't shown down a weak shoving hand.

His shoves could very well have just been a great run of cards, too. As it turns out, I call (or shove rather). I may overvalue middle PP a little much, but I guess it's easy when you get this lucky:

And about the point with people playing LAG and TAG 'backwards', Chris, I think you make a very good point. It's something I've noticed in the past but never really thought about it much; as it turns out he did actually play much tighter in the later stages, and because a pretty easy blind-stealing target.

Thanks for the replies, guys, and thanks to the poker gods for bailing me out on this one
