This is pretty early in a 9man SnG and I had not seen many hands with these guys so really didn't know their tendencies.

Maybe I raised too big and gave them a chance to play perfectly. I guess my KK doesn't need much protection PF. Maybe I should be going for a 10bb 3bet. This was a 15BB raise.

What is the best 3bet size in this spot?

NL Holdem $5+$0.50 (30.00BB)
MP2 ($2191)
HJ ($1938)
CO ($2673)
BTN ($1890)
SB ($2029)
HERO ($1983)
UTG ($1910)
EP ($1448)
MP1 ($1938)

Dealt to Hero: K K

UTG Raises To $78, EP Folds, MP1 Calls $75, MP2 Folds, HJ Folds, CO Folds, BTN Folds, SB Folds, HERO Raises To $453, UTG Folds, MP1 Folds

HERO wins: $267

My rule of thumb is 4X out of position plus the amount put in by any field callers, so in this case 5X or 375. So yes 450 is a bit on the large size. But that being said picking up the pot uncontested with KK is not a bad result at all. Would you rather have gotten called by both opponents and then seen a flop like AQ9 out of position?

I agree with Fundiver. My sizing would not be less than 300 here and that is on the small on side and the optimal bet sizing imo is between 350 and 400 so while 453 is on the large side its not large enough where I would call it a mistake. Plus you have to factor in the villains in the hand where they could be players who when they raise on any street they are not folding on that street. With this sizing I think you still get called a lot and when you do get called it sets up future streets to be able to go a little bigger than if you had only 3 bet to 300 or so.

Right! I am definitely happy with the result but want to make sure I am not betting too large.

Exactly. I wanted to isolate to one caller to be able to bet bigger on a favorable flop. When they both folded I questioned my sizing but it sounds like it wasn't terrible. Thanks!

325-375 or just going all in. 450 looks like aces or Kings or AK
