I think this is an easy fold.
You have A high, do you really want to risk your tournament life with that?
I think the check/raise is a pretty good indication that you're beat.

Villain`s play is unusual. He limps pre-flop and then calls a raise out of position. Then he check-raises a dry flop. Unless your previous experience of him suggests that he is an idiot, I suggest this is most likely to mean that he has a big overpair, or possibly TPTK. He is ahead but not crushingly so (if he had hit a set, he would probably let you see another card and perhaps bet into him again) and is trying to take the pot down now.

Fold, I reckon.

YEah exactly the read i had on him tbh. He had checkraised about 5 times before showing a wide range of nuts, air and middle pair

ITS A TARP!

In other news, is there value in checking the flop & bluff catching the turn here? I'd like that line more if there was a heart on the flop, but I still think its got some merit against a maniac who's check/raised like every flop.

LOL, do you think checking the flop is acceptable here?

Given the choice between:

C-betting into a maniac who check/raises a TON and having to make a bluff catching decision for my whole stack.

OR

Checking back, sometimes binking an A or K, and calling just about any turn bet planning to show down AK high...

Idk, I kinda like plan B. Don't bluff the maniacs, bluff catch them. And when you c-bet this board, you're bluffing. If there was a heart on this board, I think its DEFFO a check back as you can turn a ton of cards that will give you good equity (T's, hearts, A's, K's, Q's, even J's).

He is 40 vpip. That means he plays almost everything. There are lot of hands he can play that way.He can even draw for flush or straight and you got just overcards.I think fold is reasonable here. You have big stack and can wait for better chance.

I agree, a definite fold. Wait for a definite hand to teach him a lesson. Resist the temptation here.
