This is a $400 buy in live tourney. We are 8 handed. Villain is on the button and is loose aggressive and has already rebought once. He is playing about 40-50% of pots.

Blinds are 200/400/50 starting pot contains 1,000

Villain has ~22,000 M=21 55BBs
Hero has ~30,000 M= 29 75BBs

It folds to me 3rd to act with :as4::qd4: and I raise it up to 1000

it folds to the button who grabs chips like he is going to raise, then he flats. I read that as just posturing, I didn't think he was really going to raise me. both blinds fold.

heads up to the flop pot contains 3,000

flop is :ks4: :js4: :7d4:

I decide to check and call if he bets. I frequently Cbet, but I've not seen this villain fold to many Cbets. I decide to pot control and possibly bluff catch. Maybe he'll give me a free card to my gut shot and maybe I'll pickup another spade to the nut flush draw? anyways...I just have Ace high and I'm out of position. To my surprise he checks behind.

turn is the :qc4:

I bet 2,000 and he insta calls.

pot is 7,000 going to the river.

turn is a blank, something like the :5d4:

I check fully expecting him to bet 100% of the time here. sometimes he'll be bluffing and sometimes he won't but he'll always make a bet here.

well, I was right but he jams all in for a total of 19,000 into a 7,000 pot.

I'm pretty sure this is a nuts or nothing bet. I think if he just had 1 King he would value bet a smaller amount, something like 4,000. He could have busted spades. he could have KJ. He could have rivered a set of 5s....he could have total air.

What should I do?

With this stack size, need 100% cbet. because board dry and many cards in river change very dificult what stay in pot.. Better cbet in flop and t/r only c/f......

Villains hand is polarised.

Tough one , you showed weakness in the hand and the LAG villain might just be using this against you.
The only thing that really makes sense here is 77, 55 , AT or f draw but would villain try to blow you out of the pot with the first 3 hands ? probably not, probably betting the turn also , but LAGS like to bet when got nothing and check the nuts.

Most likely he would be value betting these hands , even 2 pair or K would be valuing , so I m leaning towards a bluff, but....

SCENARIO 1
if you Fold , you still have a healthy 68 BB left ,

SCENARIO 2
If you call and win you will have 130 bb witch is nice but does it make a huge difference to your situation from Scenario 1 ?

SCENARIO 3
If you call and loose you will be down to 20 bb and a short, all your weapons are gone and are left with the grind,
does it make a difference to your situation from scenario 1 , I think so.

Assuming you have an edge I would make a crying fold here , the risk is too high.

Based on all the information you have given, I fold there unless you have a clear cut read. I usually play to win, but in this instance if you are wrong you are left with an all in or fold mentality... Plus if he is bluffing he will read you as weak and then make a move into a pot where you have the nuts and you will get those chips back later. What was the result of this hand?? Did he show anything??

The result was I tank called. I just felt he had to have the nuts or a bluff and because of his style I thought the bluff was a lot more likely.

He showed TT and I knocked him out and had a nice stack.

It was a gut wrenching call though and even as I scooped the pot I didn't know whether or not it was the right decision to call off right there...

my friend snapped a picture of me as I dragged the pot. here it is. I normally look a lot happier when I win a pot...but I was quite conflicted and perplexed in that hand.

Nice pic! I'll admit that was a brave call. But if you felt it was either the nuts or total air, I can't really say that I hate this call here.

Nice call. When I read the hand I thought there is a good chance he was bluffing as well but I probably would have folded for stack preservation.

Congrats on winning the pot jackie...
I was in the impression that the villian already hit a trips at flop and was trapping u...
His post flop check..insta call post turn and allin post river...this pattern looks so similar to a hand that got trips at flop and is trying to limp trap the opponent..

Another view is that he was waiting for a flush draw and bluffed post river with a shove...

I didn't have a physical tell, I'd just been at the table with him a couple hours and he was getting his whole stack in an awful lot..

No, I did not cash in the tourney. I was 11th, 1 off from the final table.
