Because he's got a monster stack, and you're pushing a wide range.

Please post hands like this in the Bad Beats section.

Meh, your response makes this ok for HA, even if the question lends itself more to bad beats.

The hand conversions provided by www.handconverter.com , the stoxpoker hand converter, and several others are better than this hand converter.

I do not see this as a beat, the result is not the important thing for me.

The way we both played the hand is what I would like opinion on.

I tend to blind away and have opened up my range in various positions to counter that issue. I would like to understand what other players think of my shove here and how the Villan decided that he was in a +EV situation, or is it a case of running a decent move into a maniac.

Just what CJ said. Villain is a big stack and he can easily afford to take a shot here with 2 suited cards that he figures are live. If you are viewed as a good player this play is especially likely as the big stack will take some large risks to eliminate you. And if the big stack has been running good s/he may be thinking that it will continue.

He was not suited, but that said the opinion here seems to favour avoiding the big stack incase he/she decides it is worth a go.

Thanks for your replies, I will adjust from this lesson :)

I took this advice forward and managed to cash in my next 2 games followed by a satellite win for $11 into the Sunday $250k :)

I then played another and managed to forget myself again shoving 88 into a larger stack who happened to have 99 :(

note to self...stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks, stop shoving light v bigger stacks

may need to change my sig
