This is my first hand at this table and the only info is the GGPoker HUD... VPIP 12

Level 19 out of 22.

Do you guys think that given the stage of the tournaments and the min info on the CO is folding here a good fold? Or calling would have been ok.

What ranges do you guys call here?

GGPoker, Hold'em No Limit - 1,000/2,000 (250 ante) - 8 players

I decided to add another hand in this thread since is played at the same level and also very similar spot.

Level 19 out of 22

UTG has a VPIP 23 based on the GG HUD.

Do you guys call here?

With no reads, I think you played this perfectly. It can feel frustrating at this stage in the tournament, but you should be opening AJo 100% of the time and then folding 100% of the time to a 15bb CO shove.

Again, with no reads, this is a call. Theoretically UTG, should not be shoving AA or KK here, as they should just be min-raises, looking to induce, whereas their shoves should include 44+, all the suited broadways, all the way down to T9s+.

If you are regularly playing high stakes MTTs like this, you should seriously consider to invest in a subscription for ICMizer, so that you can run spots like these in the software and get the exact NASH ranges rather than posting them to a forum. But without actually pulling out the program and doing it for you (which would require more knowledge about the payout structure and stage of the tournament), I think, Matt_Burns88 nailed it. The first hand with AJo is an almost trivial fold, while the second hand with 88 is a close spot but most likely a call.

Thank you for your feedback. 🙏

I do not play this stakes regularly, those hands that I posted here (for the couple of days) are from 3 different day 1s for the GGMasters Overlay that took place on GGPoker last month. But I do plan to invest in the ICMizer or/and maybe the Raise your edge tournament masterclass.

If you are choosing between the 2 get the masterclass as it will refine your skills and then you will get much more out of ICMIZER when you use it.

I think that given the BI and the mtt stage + your opening position facing a shove and UTG shove vs your 88 : it's a fold.
