Villain was brand new to table (late register) and I had no read.

In retrospect, I probably had less fold equity considering the player was a late entrant for only 22bb. In my experience, these players tend to sign up and immediately begin gambling for a larger stack. For the same reasons though, you can put these players on slightly wider ranges, in addition to the already wide range that a 22bb CO raiser has attributed to them.

Even considering a much wider range, this is still profitable - so it's hard to fault it.

Assume he opens a very wide range from CO:
22+,A2s+,K2s+,Q4s+,J6s+,T6s+,96s+,85s+,75s+,64s+,53s+,43s,A8o+,A5o,K9o+,Q9o+,J9o+,T9o,98o

And assume he still stacks with :
77+,AJs+,A4s,KQs,JTs,T9s,98s,AQo+,KQo

The 3-bet jam is profitable, spreadsheet at the bottom. One other note, the wider he stacks, the worse this gets - so if it truly is gamble gamble time...

However, I think I prefer the good old-fashioned set-mine here, almost always. Calling pre-flop yields us 20:1 - which is about 4 times better than the minimally acceptable set-mine price.

So yeah, I don't hate the shove, but I don't really like it. Additionally, this allows villain to play optimally against us. Yeah. think this should just be a simple set-mine.

I don't really see any other way to play this hand. Seems like a slam junk rejam to me and if he calls, just win :)

I don’t hate the shove but I probably call with 66 and shove with 88+.
