Situation: I am on 2nd place and got AJ in SB and chipleader called. Shortstack is out of action and had only 5 BBs left.
I hit top pair top kicker and made a continuation bet. Chipleader answered with all-in. I put him on a hand like flushdraw, J10, QJ, KJ, A7, A4 or a set.If I fold i will have enough chips to become 2nd place. What shall i do?
Thats my first post in English and i hope you understand me.

Best regards from Germany

I would fold to his shove on the turn. I think we have to credit him with a pretty strong hand, like a set or two pair, as he knows that you could cripple him. He might be on a flush draw or have J's with a weaker kicker, but I wouldn't want to risk having him draw out on me, especially with an anemic short stack that is bound to go out in the next few hands, thus guaranteeing you second place money . I'd fold.

Maybe you would fold already preflop to avoid a situation like this?

I think AJ is definitely worth calling with preflop....now, the flop is different. If you know Fold = 2nd place, but Call = 3rd place, I say fold.

Get 2nd place, then when you have a better position you can get 1st.

No problem with pre flop bet or post flop bet. I am probably gonna fold to his allin, unless I have a good enough read on him to think I'm ahead here. You have enough chips to maneuver once & if you end up heads up. I play to win, but no need to throw away 2nd place money in this situation.
