Opponent could have been betting on the turn after it gave him a diamond draw. But there's no way to be certain, particularly at this stage.

If you were going to put any more money in the pot, it should have been with a c-bet on the flop. Otherwise, just give it up and wait for another hand.

He didn't raise preflop so I might put him on a Q,which is just as bad as the ace for you. I agree with Falloooooon(too many o's?) that I would have bet on the turn-at least 2/3 the pot. If he was on a Q he was probably testing you to see if you had the ace. Then he hit a set and value bet. At this point I would have to give it up.

.. so raise on the turn then. If you're considering calling anything on the river.... why not just get it in on the turn instead.
As played I fold here on river.

absolutly fold...but you should make this move at turn. if you want to give up this hand, you should fold on turn. if you want to go with this hand till the end,and you think he is lieing, then you should raise his bet on turn...so the final decision you must take on turn here.

By the river you're probably beat. I would have raised on the flop to try and feel him out. I think his bet on the turn was trying to force you out of the hand though, and he hit something on the river.
