my main question is why are we limping on the BTN with a pocket pair? I'd say it looks okay otherwise.

I think if you were looking to get it all in then you'd be better to raise on the button. It looks more like a steal that way. Limping on the button screams like you have a hand and want action to me.

Of course this is highly dependent on your table image.
