Ok, my first thought was to fold because BB was small.
Then I realized that my stack isn't too much better, and if the BB ever doubles up then I'm pretty much screwed.
JJ is damn good, but most likely so is UTG.
Do I wanna get in a race when I'm 4 bbs ahead of last?

PokerStars - $1.50+$0.25|100/200 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BB: 2,085.00
UTG: 5,095.00
Hero (BTN): 2,820.00
SB: 3,500.00

BB posts ante 25.00, UTG posts ante 25.00, Hero posts ante 25.00, SB posts ante 25.00, SB posts SB 100.00, BB posts BB 200.00

Pre Flop: (400.00) Hero has J:diamond: J:heart:

UTG raises to 800.00, Hero ???

The issue is that here you never have any fold equity, so jamming is unfortunately pretty bad. Also, just from a quick run in SNGWiz without playing with the numbers too much, it really doesn't get that much closer if you and BB both have t2000 stacks.

Cry as you fold imo :(

Assuming Villain opens 4x with 88+, AJs+, AQo+ and KQs we have:
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 53.262% 52.40% 00.86% 67295494 1104503.00 { JhJd }
Hand 1: 46.738% 45.88% 00.86% 58918300 1104503.00 { 88+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+ }
And I think we do have some fold equity here if villain is bad, so I think you can shove over the top

Also at 10BB's, the BB is not really short enough for you to worry about outlasting him based on that

Yeah Ben, I would most likely be shoving this if we had a read saying that he is capable of folding this, definitely agree. It just doesn't usually happen in my experience.

Also I'm pretty sure I'm always shoving this in-game, lmao

meh
i think a raise like this is more indicative of a midpair than a monster.

SNGs are the devil's game.

Yeh I agree maybe should have set his range at 55+, definitely a shove for me in game, and after analysis

Would have shoved here, unless UTG is tight. He's probably opening pretty wide here hoping to exploit tight bubble conditions. You're well ahead of his range IMO as big pairs and cards (eg. AK) are usually min bet anyway to induce action. Unless you have a read on this player or a large raise is unusual, i'd ship it.

BTW I think you still have a lot of fold equity in this spot. If he looses he'll be almost short stack and so he's probably unlikely to call with a lot of his opening range (and you gotta be aggressive on the bubble).

I think the range give by Ben is too tight, especially in $1 SNG's where A4+ is considered v.strong.

Even more reason to ship it
